The Great Ocean Road Coach Trip

Hiya! A few of you know that just last week, a friend of mine from Singapore came over for a short visit and during that time, we went on a 2-day Coach Trip to explore some parts of Victoria.
Here are a few pics from The Great Ocean Road! I wish digicams came with a function for labelling the photos so you can remember the shots that you were taking because unfortuantely, I can't recall the names of some of the places in the photos and all that.

Once the coach left the city and got on the expressway, we could see the bridge (darnit, forgot the name of the bridge! Heeelp!!) This is the highest bridge in Australia as it goes over the Yarra River near the Docklands where container ships travel. Therefore, it has to be built high enough for these large vessels to pass by underneath it.
And then, we hit the farmlands! We were clearly in the suburbs now! I can almost hear the Dixie Chicks singing, "Wide Open Spaces"!
There's currently a drought here and it's been touted to be the worst drought in 20 years. There's a total fire ban today as there are about 50 forest fires raging right now in the Northern parts of Victoria. There's also a Stage II Water Restriction in force. Look at how dry it can get! You can see the low water levels of the pond in the foreground.
On the Great Ocean Road now!
Look at this really interesting road that seems to appear from nowhere and head nowhere! I call this "The Road to Nowhere"!
Taken during our first stop. It was sunny but with extremely strong winds and therefore, very cold! Brrrr!! And this... I call it, "Tidal Art"!
Whilst admiring the pristine beach, I spotted these two surfer dudes carrying their surfboards in the distance. I stood there gazing at them until a group of very noisy teenage girls came over and got really excited over them.
Nothing like a rowdy bunch of teenage girls with their incessant shrieks and all to ruin an almost magical moment. 
Peekaboo! Wouldn't you love to live in a little beach hut like this one? Your very own little niche by the beach!

Every shade of blue here!
Good enough for a Hollywood movie! I love this little wooden bridge over a creek! I think this li'l place is called Separation Creek or Separation something or other. I remember chuckling and saying to my friend, "My, how inauspicious if newlyweds were to move into Separation Creek!" 
Then, as the coach did a sharp turn, I caught sight of this through the windscreen! Awesome!!
Speechless...
Guess where we stopped by next?
And then, we arrived at the famous 12 Apostles where we stopped by a Helicopter Tour place and then despite having a sizeable lunch of 1/4 BBQ chix with a too-small portion of Fish N Chips from my friend, ... we have lift off!! And here, first pic taken up in the air, after I got over the exhilaration of being airborne! 
"Strong winds tilting helicopter! I repeat, strong winds tilting helicopter! Over and Out!"
Now, I know where the bakers who created the famous multi-layer coffee-chocolate mousse cake got their inspiration from... The growls of my stomach became amplified over the deafening roar of the chopper blades...

Hmm... methinks not very wise to open the helicopter doors right now! Loooooooong drop down cold and choppy waters!
Oooooh! See that delightful little patch of beach in the cusp?
A few apostles... speechless... 
And, if you look hard enough, you'll be able to see a blue helicopter that has just lifted off!
Rendered speechless again... Choppy waters, awesome and so mesmerising, but don't go swimming there!!

The helicopter swerved back inland to land. Look at the cute li'l bales of hay! And cattle in the background too!

Here, one apostle collapsed in a heap and si liao!!
Choi! Choi!! More like ascended to heaven liao!
Anyways, this is the apostle that has collapsed into a heap but with the death of this one apostle, there's the birth of a new one! Sorry, but I couldn't see the new one and well, even if I saw it, I wouldn't know it. I kept asking "Where? Where?" in the helicopter when the pilot gave the commentary but I think he couldn't hear me. 
Whoa... I'd love to see Tom Cruise try to climb that cliff, it'll be truly Mission Impossible!
Hmm... looks like an elephant, but I believe this is the one that they call "Baker's Oven"??
And this is London Bridge! There used to be land hanging over the waters connecting the two bits but it collapsed recently, leaving tourists stranded on the outer bit but thank goodness, no one was killed when it collapsed. Helicopters were called in to rescue the stranded tourists.

I like all your photos! Yeah, the driver did mention that, and that it killed a few workers who were having their lunchbreak underneath the bridge so they set aside a plot of land by the bridge as a kind of memorial to the lives lost.
So, is that the highest bridge in Victoria or in Australia? Thought it was Australia but wanted to get the facts right.
So overwhelmed the whole journey and I made the mistake of not jotting stuff down.
Definitely wanna return to the Great Ocean Road again and this time, take it slow and easy and explore the place in greater detail and at leisure! -

Well, I tried to but somehow, although I've resized the pics in photobucket, which is hosting the pics, the two still came up very large here. Don't know why!
And oh, love the 12 Apostles by Air photos I took? I wanted to pilot the helicopter and prolong the ride!! -

Great Ocean Road is indeed a very nice place to visit. It's just so scenic. The place is also special to me as my hubby proposed to me at one of the beaches there 2 years ago.
Did you stay there for the sunset? And did you go to Warnambool?
I am sure you'll have plenty of opportunities in the future to explore that place again. -

That brings back fond memories of my trip to VIC in the summer of 04/05. -

Well, it was a day trip and the driver cum guide did say that we were squeezing in one day what would be best seen over a few days. We didn't get to see sunset there.
That's why I feel that I would like to learn how to drive so that I can drive there again in future and spend a few days there. -
