Flooding Brings Relief to NEWater Suppliers
by Robertson Kway
The recent flooding, caused by one of the highest recorded rainfalls in the past century, has brought unexpected relief – to NEWater suppliers.
“The flooding has caused a temporary water surplus in Singapore,” said Mr. Kee Shee Shee, an employee of HyTide Pte Ltd, a company which supplies the raw materials needed to produce NEWater. “Which means we no need to keep peeing in order to keep the country supplied with recycled water. I can finally take leave this Christmas and spend some time with my family!”
For HyTideÂ’s 100 or so employees, a typical workday involves consuming diuretics in various forms, and emptying their kidneys into containers for shipment to NEWater treatment plants.
“My family doesn’t really understand what I do, even when I explain it to them,” said Mr. Kee. “They think I’m just taking the piss, when actually I’m… uh, neh’mine.”
But he finds his work on the whole enjoyable. “It’s a job where I know exactly what I’m doing, which is more than I can say for other people.”
HyTide is currently considering partnership talks with Asia Pacific Breweries, the manufacturers of Tiger beer. Said HyFlux general manager Ms. Lim Yew Reen, “We see complete synergy with APB. They produce stuff that tastes like piss, which causes people to piss, and we recycle that piss.”
In other news, department store Tangs denies that the fire on its roof, which took two fire engines and 30 firefighters one hour to douse, was the start of a ‘fire sale’.

Given a typical lightsaber's prodigious power consumption, the six AA batteries won't last long. One solution would be to equip the lightsaber with a power extension cord, but that has the disadvantage of limiting cool lightsaber fights to areas within easy reach of an electrical outlet supplying the correct voltage.Originally posted by kopiosatu:
