you can do that after you iron the details right into their skin with a red-hot pokerOriginally posted by the Bear:what i want to do is panel them with an iron bar so much so that no one can tell their face from their ass after that
what you need to do, is to ask your friends or your friends' friends who are teaching. they will give you the full picture.Originally posted by choco B:really? Man I need to find a sg Teaching forum ! (everything that the MOE website doesn't tell you... and more! )
i think she's new (under 6 mths). Actually, her boss is the one who shd go first....coz she's even more hopeless.Originally posted by choco B:Only empathy from her bosses will save her now... hope she did lots of PR with them beforehand

I'm not saying teaching is a bad idea for a career(far from it), but that you need to know what you're getting yourself into. like any other job, if you decide to have kids, and spend time with your kids, you will have to accept some sacrifices to your prospects for advancement.
Edit: err...can you remove my quote from your post?
I'm not sure I should have even posted that.

Do you think MOE monitors this site ?
I can't believe you're usually blase about other politically sensitive stuff but you're worried about comments on teaching !
You should see the kind of nonsense my former tuition student's teachers have been teaching him.Originally posted by the Bear:you can see the evidence in schools.. where they are not interested in children but they are more interested in getting awards like People De-eloper, SQA and all the other pointless awards... instead of educating the children...

the "holidays" will be spent "on course" (which are useless) or being dragged back to the school to do pointless ECAs...
you will find that cream does not rise to the top.. scum does that faster and will end up being so thick that it'll spoil the cream..

but if you are a heartless mercenary who do not care about children and are not beneath using them to climb up the ranks, you'll do well in MOE
I want.Originally posted by the Bear:argh!! you mean i went and edited the post for nothing?

To put it bluntly, his English sucks - and it doesn't help that his teacher makes the exact same grammatical mistakes that he does in her so-called 'model answers'.
And don't get me started with hie Science teacher. Among others, here's what she taught them:
1. The [b]SI unit for density is g/cm3.
2. The density of water is 0.1 g/cm3.
3. There are 0.0008 neutrons in an atom of hydrogen.
4. The units to be used in a pair of vernier calipers is the meter. In short, if the vernier caliper reading is '4.19', the measurement is 4.19 meters.

Yeah!Originally posted by choco B:Sometimes I come across incompetent people in good, high paying jobs & manage to hang on for years and years and I think to myself - Why can't that be me ??
Seriously Wanda, d'you think teaching is more family-friendly ? Aside from the D you get during the year you get preggers?
actually, there's really no such thing as a child friendly career these days so don't let our comments put you off. I know people who are very happy being teachers even though they know that they will never be promoted because of the way they do things. to them, making a difference in the children counts for more than career advancement.Originally posted by choco B:Orh so , not a good choice huh
Damn. Seach continues.......

factual mistakes for science is unforgiveable!
well neutrons are made up of quack or something so i guess they can be divided.Originally posted by the Bear:btw, how the hell did that teacher come up with such things?
he can divide the neutron?
looks like his calipers are giant ones
and maybe it is light water for light water reactors
Density = mass/volume.Originally posted by hisoka:whats the SI units for density? whats wrong with using metres which is the SI unit?
SI unit for mass = kg.
SI unit for volume = m3.
So strictly speaking, SI unit for density = kg/m3.
I was going through one of his Science test papers, and I noticed that he was marked correct when he put 'g/cm3' for the question 'What is the SI unit for density?'.
He claimed that a friend of his was marked wrong when he put 'kg/m3'.
