John Wyndham. The Chrysalids.Originally posted by elindra:I remember I had to do this book called "The Crysalis" or something like that
About human evolution getting telepathic powers and it was supposed to be after the holocast or something
Where ppl went back to the middle ages or something
Sci-fi. Anyway, I didn't enjoy the story so didn't pay attention.
Thank that was what pulled down my results
I like the part the young man had the red hot iron shoved up his assOriginally posted by ShrodingersCat:Ahh yeah yeah.. clever boy.. i forgets.
its hilarious isnt it?! So fun when u get to do amoral stories instead of ... stuff like Heart of Darkness..... -phew-

Yup Joseph Conrad. Apocalypse Now was good to watch but... uhh.. I don't know, I just never had the inclination to plough through that book. I love Apocalypse Now though.. especially the line about Sanity like a snail on a razorblade. Sounds like my type of sanity. Heart of Darkness.............that was by Joseph Conrad methinks?
I hated the movie adaption actually, to me it was crap.Originally posted by the Bear:barely... but the song from the movie soundtrack is so sweet in its innocent hope
Err no I don'tOriginally posted by ShrodingersCat:John Wyndham. The Chrysalids.
Actually I think u would probably enjoy the book if you read it now.
I think its like Tolkein. The language is very archaic, even though the story (for its time) was revolutionary. But ending sucks.

What's wrong with David EddingsOriginally posted by elindra:Err no I don't
Too dry for me
See the way a book is written is very important for me and there are certain authors I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole (David Eddings is one of them though I love fantasy stuff)
Yeah the ending sucks and John Wyndham couldn't keep my interest
He just burnt down his house?Originally posted by av98m:What's wrong with David Eddings

Actually.. I quite enjoyed that.Originally posted by Kuali Baba:I chucked 'Pride & Prejudice' aside after 11 pages.
What's 'The Teenage Textbook/Workbook'?
Oh, you mean the part about how his series will pretty much be about the fufillment of some prophecy in which some god needs to be killed? Yeah I guess. But for some reason I still love his books. I think its the characters he creates.Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:He just burnt down his house?
Oh okay, actually I think he 'introduces' the fantasy realm well. But, after awhile, he tends to be unoriginal and repetitive.
Why do people still think it's alright to carry on when that happens?Originally posted by sbst275:In other news, 1 more caught for unstamped passport... Apparently over the same crap again, no one mending the counter no one bothered to close the lane
I have read every single damned series he's ever written, and re-read them multiple timesOriginally posted by elindra:I don't know
I just don't like his writing style
It seems so trying to me for some reason
Even his famous series (can't recall)
I didn't even bother finish reading 1/4 of the first book
Tried going to the middle and the ending but nay
Went on to the 2nd book and did the same thing
He can't keep me interested
