Actually I think u would probably enjoy the book if you read it now.
I think its like Tolkein. The language is very archaic, even though the story (for its time) was revolutionary. But ending sucks. -

Yup Joseph Conrad. Apocalypse Now was good to watch but... uhh.. I don't know, I just never had the inclination to plough through that book. I love Apocalypse Now though.. especially the line about Sanity like a snail on a razorblade. Sounds like my type of sanity. See the way a book is written is very important for me and there are certain authors I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole (David Eddings is one of them though I love fantasy stuff)
Yeah the ending sucks and John Wyndham couldn't keep my interest -

I like these old writers. Which is a bonus, cos lots of their books are in the 'royalty free' realm already and I download them to read for free 
Especially sleuth novels.. wah best. Those in the early 20th century. -
Oh, you mean the part about how his series will pretty much be about the fufillment of some prophecy in which some god needs to be killed? Yeah I guess. But for some reason I still love his books. I think it was Belgarard that I read that turned me off
I prefer Terry Goodkind, Raymond E Feist, Pierce Anthony, Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman and RA Salvatore -

But after eddings, i moved on to Raymond E Feist which I liked. But personally I find Fantasy writers who write series, tend to end up repetitive lah.
I like Asimov. He is prolific AND original. -
I feel very strongly that the Dragonlance novels should have stopped after Chronicles and Legends(both of which were excellent). It sorta went downhill after that.
