and if the person is abit psyho..?Originally posted by Mospeada:the trick to handle this and to make it a perfect balanced system is to have it decided by a person, like what i do for my company, the person will then set target for the company as a whole, then cascade down to CEO, then dpty CEO..and down the ranks...
in the first place, the company should screen thruOriginally posted by Ito_^:and if the person is abit psyho..?
i think the topic of sheer disgust should be the bonus distribution and the moderation of the performance grading, rather than the KPIsOriginally posted by the Bear:the topic seems to draw a consensus whenever we talk about it.. that is of sheer disgust
i know almost every organisation will have been suckered into implementing it for good or ill.. well, for some organisations, it is essential for monitoring your performance... like say, the manufacturing industry where quality control is vital...
however, we all know that there are organisations, for the sake of attaining some award or rating, implement these things which end up making things difficult for the staff, and worse, is detrimental to the organisation as a whole...
if you can, do share your experiences about this obscenity known as Key Performance Indicators
i think it depends all on the person steering the ship, if he decides to go the wrong way, the entire crew will followOriginally posted by the Bear:nope.. the KPIs themselves are sometimes retarded...
i've heard from people that they are required to "smile X times" and there are times if you do well, you actually fail the KPI
at my division, we fill in the thing for the sake of filling in the thing.. frankly, it is strange that the heads are afraid of failing the KPIs even when they know the things don't mean anything and are retarded...
what is worse is that they make the operations do things which are pointless in order to meet the KPIs..
but i m not con-men-sultants, but i am still around in the companyOriginally posted by the Bear:those who recommended the KPIs are the con-men-sultants
those who agreed with the con-men-sultants will agree to anything to look good..
those who argued against the recommendations are surpressed..
those who approved the KPIs don't know a thing
those who set the KPIs have left...
those who are left behind are too indifferent to care..
those who have to do the work and achieve the KPI are too overworked to care..
