For instance, in the latest one I'm watching, I keep seeing 'the good elephant' in the subtitles, and when I converted the language to Mandarin, I realised that 'hao xiang' has been literally translated to 'the good elephant'!!
Also, the translation is literal, which really makes it so darn comical!
So,
"Ni hao xiang bu gao xing yah" = You the good elephant not high happy yeah?
(I'm NOT kidding!!)
"Wo men de nu er hao xiang xue huai le!" = Our lady the good elephant learn bad.
Horrifying!! But very very entertaining! So bad that I couldn't watch it in Korean and read the English subtitles, I had to watch it in Mandarin! -
reminds me of my poor colleague who is doing some translating for a video project..
actually, it's harder than that.. she's correcting the translation
was saying we should have gotten her to translate it.. fewer problems... and that the bloody vendors should pay her half the translation fees -

I was actually thinking of writing to the producers of the Korean DVD's that I can translate for them from Mandarin for a small fee. I think I can do a much much much better job! In fact, any of us here can translate much better than the gruesome stuff!

The dubbing is lousy. In the thick of argument, when the actors are shouting and screaming in rage, the dubbing is expressionless with nary a voice being raised! Biangz! Good elephant very rotten! -
