In previous real-time strategy games, the strategy I used most of the time was pretty straightforward: send in lots and lots of infantry (with armour and arty in support) to overwhelm the enemy.
But Warcraft III changed that with the small food limit. I remember getting frustrated initially at having to resort to hit-and-run attacks.
Eventually I became more creative at the use of strategies.
