Quite frankly I prefer the Canon G7 but this one can work with my exisiting speedlight. If I were to buy the canon I'd end up spending $$$ on a canon flash!
And I don't exactly have a lot of dosh to spend. The article states that the P5000 would cost around US$400... which translates to around S$700 after import and middleman costs are factored in.
As it is I have to delay buying a new digicam until at least the end of the semester.

so if we have 1 GB space thats 250 pictures? sounds ok to me
afterall we have several GB thumbdrives. adding a space of a thumbdrive into a camera doesn't make it much bigger -

What's important is that it has an SD card slot.
It makes transferring of photos a snap for me... I can just take the SD card out of the slot and shove it into my laptop's SD slot. -
then you don't want the Sony.. it will use the proprietary memory stick thingy...

the flexibility to take out media and reload with new ones is a plus... whereas those with built-in, you have to look for a place to dump the pics before you can take more pictures...

I put forward the following question to several shopkeepers at Sim Lim and Funan: 'What's the difference between the Nikon Coolpix s8 and the Sony T10?'
To be frank, they were all hard-pressed to tell the difference. In fact, a number of them said that I'd be spending an extra $100 for the Sony T10 without any tangible benefits. -

basically i want that inbuilt or "complimentary" sd card cos i don't take much pictures and getting a good camera with good " in-built" memory would normally suffice meaning i do nto need to make the extra expenditure to buy the external stuff until and if i need to. it will be cheaper in the future too anyway -

what makes you think the camera would be cheaper with built-in memory
anyway, if you wanna, go look at casios.. not too sure now, but in the past, they didn't have the external memory media thing, just internal memory...

A shopkeeper at Funan once demonstrated it to me. He waved his finger quickly in front of the lens and took a shot. Lo and behold - the camera actually got a crisp shot of the finger.
And yeah, SD memory is pretty cheap these days. I can get a 2GB SD card at the bazaars at NUS for $30 - $35, depending on my luck.
