It is compact.... but both the Nikon Coolpix and the Sony T10 are more compact.Originally posted by av98m:The P5000 is compact you know.
Quite frankly I prefer the Canon G7 but this one can work with my exisiting speedlight. If I were to buy the canon I'd end up spending $$$ on a canon flash!
when I strike toto.Originally posted by the Bear:btw, av, when are you buying the Leica M8?

so a 10mp would be 4MB?Originally posted by the Bear:i got a 5MP camera... each pic is about 2MB

so if we have 1 GB space thats 250 pictures? sounds ok to me
afterall we have several GB thumbdrives. adding a space of a thumbdrive into a camera doesn't make it much bigger
To be frank, a camera's internal memory isn't important to me.Originally posted by hisoka:so a 10mp would be 4MB?

What's important is that it has an SD card slot.
It makes transferring of photos a snap for me... I can just take the SD card out of the slot and shove it into my laptop's SD slot.
hmmz true most pple are blind to additional costs that have to be incurred anyway. and most probably in higher costs if bought separatelyOriginally posted by the Bear:which begs the question: why would a camera manufacturer incur more costs and make his camera more expensive by putting in some built-in memory when external media can do the same?
Correct. That's why I'm pretty much ruling out Sony, Olympus and Fujifilm, which all use non-SD memory.Originally posted by the Bear:then you don't want the Sony.. it will use the proprietary memory stick thingy...
or a CF thingy together...
i was thinking of both options. but that might make the camera abit bigger though.Originally posted by the Bear:the flexibility to take out media and reload with new ones is a plus... whereas those with built-in, you have to look for a place to dump the pics before you can take more pictures...
anyway, while swinging my arms yesterday evening, i sort of hurt my right shoulder
damn, i'm a walking nightmare of injuries
Most of the time, they will give you an SD card free of charge. Depending on the model you buy, the shopkeeper may give you a 512MB card or a 1GB card.Originally posted by hisoka:i was thinking of both options. but that might make the camera abit bigger though.
basically i want that inbuilt or "complimentary" sd card cos i don't take much pictures and getting a good camera with good " in-built" memory would normally suffice meaning i do nto need to make the extra expenditure to buy the external stuff until and if i need to. it will be cheaper in the future too anyway
Yup... the Casio Exilim is surprisingly quite good, considering that people generally associate Casio with watches.Originally posted by the Bear:what makes you think the camera would be cheaper with built-in memory
anyway, if you wanna, go look at casios.. not too sure now, but in the past, they didn't have the external memory media thing, just internal memory...
btw, SDs, xDs, CFs are really cheap these days.. and you can use them for other things..
