i just received mine... and i received my bloody e-filing PIN last friday
got to bite the bullet and see the hard-earned $$$ disappear into the gabrament coffers again

just remembered that i cannot file my income tax yet.. got to wait for SAF to send me the deductions..

Well, there's no hurry to pay taxes. I always do it a bit later in case the e-filing website got problems, yet again....

oh yeah.. i remember once when i wanted to go there and rant at IRAS...
i had everything filed in, and they sent me a letter telling me i did not file and wanted to fine me!
putting on my game face, i was about to go there and scare the living bejesus out of them when the lady at the counter, without missing a beat asked me "you filed right? give me your name and IC number... you brought the documents with you? okay... it's all done" after keying in some things...
i was "huh?? wha??"
so i pursued the case in a tactical manner... "server crash?"
she muttered "yah.. a lot of people who filed, their data all lost"
i was wondering.. what kind of ham-fisted asswipes would send a summons with a threat of a fine (and if i'm not wrong, even jail time) for not filing their income tax when it was their own server that crashed due to overload?
then i remembered who was the Minister of Finance... -

i remember in the past, before the days of e-filing, we had to send in a pile of forms...
i was working shifts at that time.. so one day, i took all the forms and documents, went to a shopping mall where poly students were there helping people fill in their forms for extra credits.. and let them do it for me
got a free pen too!
a friend of mine found out and did the same.. thing is, he's an accountant! -

I quite stupidly paid up the fine before thinking twice, just to get them off my back.
Then I got pissed about it, and a few nasty emails later got my refund -

wat is form 8e?
my company and ex company will help me submit the details. all i need to do is log on and declare i got insurance and course fees to deduct. i'm happy that the garment has only asked me to pay $180 for taxes. and they better not ask me to pay this year since my course fees are 15K -

My definition of 'high taxes' has been redefined since coming here.
In order not to get frustrated, I consider my post-tax income as my gross.
Yeah, the infamous ostrich-burying-its-head-in-the-sand plea of ignorance, which, in this case, is truly bliss!
Each time I start to think of the obscene amount of tax I pay, I feel downright miserable! At least, those years of paying taxes in Singapore were pain-free.

They sent me a letter before I flew off to USA.
Your salary is less then 22 thousand so you do not need to file taxes.
And that property tax thingy.....they make me pay by installments.
About $10 and something cents per month.
I was wondering.....that giro is automatic....But couldnt they deduct the full sum one shot? Its like only $34/-! -
er so if my income is below 22k pa i dun need to do anything hor?
