how do you play the music?
at work, i have a crappy radio which i use to tune to BBC World Service (it requires a regular beating tho'
)
other times, i put MP3s through the PC either from the discs i burn or through the 4GB flash drive...
i will listen to a lot of things, from Corrinne May and Jamie Cullum to Nickelback and Nightwish
and all the other stuff in between
the speakers are the crappy monitor speakers.. i'm too lazy to go buy proper speakers which will give me better sound.. besides, it's not nice to have a 5.1 or 2.1 set in the office -

Not listening to any music at work. If I do listen to music, I will only play those light music like Kevin Kern's music and I usually play it softly in the background.
My other colleagues will usually use a headphone if they are listening to music which I think it's the best way for an open office environment. Imagine having different people playing different pop music in the office...

I normally listen to fusion jazz and music from various anime soundtracks at work.
I have Winamp loaded on my laptop at work, and use that to play back the MP3 files and CDs. I listen to the music through a pair of old 80s-vintage Koss TNT-88 headphones that still sound fantastic by today's starndards. -
Last time my work place is manufacturing oriented.. Labour intensive. then everyday got radio 97.2

if it's one of those chinese stations which churn out sugary pop music, i'd quit immediately

I listen to the ipod at low volumes in the office, so that I can still talk to people and pick up the phone without having to remove my earbuds
I'd rather just leave a small radio on but my boss is very sensitive to sound -
i play songs to reflect my mood..

Actually I'm kinda thankful that people here don't play their music in the open.
At a previous workplace there was this lady who played music on the pc via speakers , and I was sitting near her in the same section.... and she would play the same song over and over and over again. My gawd it was hell, Sammi fan also don't need to laidat right.
I didn't know how to tell her to please turn it off cos I wasn't close to her (and it was that sort of bitchy work environment ). So I had to tolerate her Sammi Chinese dancey-pop song everyday! -
I think when it comes to music in the workplace, I tend to agree with choco. When I was holding a corporate job, I won't play my music until it's after-hours and even then, softly so that my colleagues in the cubicles next to mine won't be disturbed.

In camp, my mates and I had our own computers, so we either copied the songs onto the hard disk or played straight from the CD That was until a few virus attacks occured (not started b any of us) and our CD drives and USB ports were disabled.
After that, I simply brought my old discman along and hooked it up to the monitor speakers. They were better than the in-built ones.
I had my whole collection in there: U2, Coldplay, Crowded House, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nat King Cole, Bossa Nova, the Bee Gees, Franz Ferdinand, the Rolling Stones, Jem, Katherine Jenkin, Oasis, Rogue Traders, The Police...
They weren't a hit with the others, but I didn't like the Scissors Sisters songs they played either. -

current hod dun like.. so my volume is at (estimate) 1% loud enuff for me to hear... but soft enuff for her NOT to hear it when she's next to me talkin to my colleague sittin next to me -

that I turn on during snack times while the kids are eating
Its the first song of a Kids Song CD and I only listen to that to make sure its turned on, then after that I 'tune off'. Totally don't know which song comes next. -
Any radio station in English or Chinese will do for me. I also think any music should be kept at a low volume, unless the next cubicle requests it be turned up a notch.
Absolutely love Rod Steward's great american songbook Vol 2 cd.... always manages to perk me up at work. -

Last work place has piped in music.
And its mostly Fm95.
When riding, Its usually 91.3
am goign to be getting the Phillips ear Buds earphones. They are soooo much cheaper then the Sony earbuds earphones.
And hopefully, a mp3 with fm radio function. -

i use earphones so i wun disturb the other peons.
keep recycling the same stuff:
70's - 90's rock (esp the glam bands like GnR)
Mando / Canto Pop, sammi, yanzi etc.
Western Classical esp. Bach and Debussy
Chinese Classical (mostly thousand year old Gu Qin pieces)
J-Pop / Rock (Tokyo Jihen, Malice Mizer etc.)
Jazz and Bossa (Joe Pass, Stan Getz, Ana Caram etc) -
same here. we can't play any music... in fact all our mobiles have to be in silence mood and personal calls are NOT encouraged... and i sit right outside my lady boss room can't even listen via headphonesOriginally posted by elindra:No music at work

No flash drives cos comps are all security enabled...haha....
My colleague and I take turn to irritate each other... he play the Hokkien songs and I play the classical ones...
