one fine day they sent me a letter telling me that I've been enrolled into some medical insurance thingy ... I called them up and told them, no, I didn't ..... then they told me that it's an automatic thing for all current account holders .... and no, they can't terminate this right away, you have to return the form and certificate that came with the letter to the bank before they can strike it off, in the mean time, they'll continue to deduct C$9.80 a month from my account .....
after a while they were just repeating the same thing over and over again .... so I just hung up ....
One time was even funnier, my online account showed the correct transactions while the statement they sent me had errors. I went down to show them the printout from my online statement and the person still kept insisting that the amount from my printout was wrong!!Originally posted by choco B:This thread was created at the most opportune time .
I just spent the most infuriating morning talking to the officer from UOB. I called her, told her the problem about bank statement discrepency, faxed her the relevant statements and asked her to check then revert. Shimple right?
So after awhile she called me , told me that her SYSTEM showed a different figure from the statement. So I'm like... how laidat? She kept insisting she saw a different figure. Then she said " I can't see the "2006" on your faxed December statement... you may have to bring the original statement down to the branch..."
KNN accuse me of changing figures on statement or wad ??
Then she started pushing that I need to give her more information so she can check faster
I'm like -- look if the system figure is wrong, it's your problem. If the statements are wrong, also your problem - go do your work, check it out and don't push it back to me!

I couldn't!!Originally posted by choco B:HOW did you get the bank to verify the balance??
I never knew statements could go so wrong, and we're not even talking about transaction amounts, mine are simply opening and closing balance without any transactions.
The tragic thing is that they keep insisting that SYSTEM SHOWS THIS, same response as what you got!
I'm like - what else you want from me then? Already faxed you the statements and that's all I can go on, it's your job to find out what's the problem right??

It dragged on for a month or so before the missing transaction materialised on their other system!
I still have no idea WTF happened T_T
*lives in fear of his bank balance suddenly becoming zero one day*

You think you've got a nice lil' stash in your bank account, doing your online banking thing for years....
One fine day you go to the counter to withdraw some money ... and the lady tells you , "Sorry sir, you only have twenty dollars in your account. "
AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

so was its the military thingy that was included that induced some "corruption" or was it becuase the excuse was believable and reasonable?Originally posted by jetta:The hubster was in DC doing some sightseeing. He arked his rental car in a handicapped spot that wasn't clearly marked and was hit with a $250 fine. He was vehement about the spot not being clearly marked and felt that he was wrongly fined. I wrote in to the address on the back of the ticket, relating the hubster's story. Of course I had to mention that the hubster was serving the military and was in the area "doing the patriotic thing" visiting the memorials there. Few weeks later we received a reply from the relevant authorities telling us that he was cleared and all was forgiven.
The latter, I'd like to think. I had mentioned that the hubster was in the area undergoing military instruction and wanted to take the opportunity to take in the nation's memorials. I guess my letter played on their patriotic spirit. Either that or they took pity on me. Either way, I'm the winner.Originally posted by hisoka:so was its the military thingy that was included that induced some "corruption" or was it becuase the excuse was believable and reasonable?
