Actually I'm not too sureOriginally posted by pwnz0r:Hmm interesting new course.. I think it preps students to pursue degrees in psychology and social work.
I wonder how popular is social work as a career choice. I actually have 3 friends that took social work as a degree in uni and are working as social workers.
I knew a few social workers in Singapore due to my work. It's not an easy job because some Singaporeans can be so rude to social workers! They talk to them with a holier-than-thou attitude and are very unreasonable and derogatory in the way they communicate to them.Originally posted by pwnz0r:Hmm interesting new course.. Yeah and SO can't leave coz he is SIA slave maOriginally posted by av98m:That's the worldwide trend today. Management keeps raising their own salaries and bonuses while trying their best to screw the other ranks. Heck, cutting manpower cost is one of their KPIs. The more workers they screw, the more bonuses they get.
but what else is there ? ....Originally posted by elindra:Yeah SIA is one of the worst paymasters for Aircraft Engineers
It used to be good but they cut out alot of things lor
The engineer union is not as strong as the pilots so they had to get alot of paycuts
They are still looking to cut the engineers pay further (BTW SO already had like a $1k pay cut ok)
And best part is they cut the engineers' pay and increase management salary
Singapore is sitting on a ticking time-bomb. The reason why Singapore got to where we are today is because of the important People Resource. Once we start having a brain drain, the trouble starts!Originally posted by elindra:And our government wonder why the professionals are all migrating
Yeah, the pay is like s hit and you get the most abuse.Originally posted by Rhonda:Actually, I think anyone in Customer Service in Singapore would experience high burnout levels, come to think of it.

Things are just going to get worse. And they don't even bother to try to improve the situation for working professionals! It's going to be too little, too late, someday.

Exactly!! The customer service people are the scapegoats for companies' stupid policies. They get abused for dumbass policies by management and when customers complain management will blame them if they cannot settle the issues raised.Originally posted by sbst275:But sometimes I think of it, they are the once being sandwiched in bet

I just realised that even though I didn't work yesterday, which is a Public Holiday here, I STILL get a normal day's pay!!
If I worked, I would've gotten double, but wow, it's really not bad! Paid for a day's work that I didn't do!!
Have a good day, everyone!!

In Singapore, you talk back to the customer(when the customer is being a complete ass), customer complain against you, spineless supervisor/management fires you to cover their asses.Originally posted by Rhonda:Yeah... cause they can get away with the abuse!
