Weddings - Need suggestions

my dearest forumites, need your help to give some suggestions and comments about past weddings you have attended.
Has anyone been to a outdoor solmisation? How you feel about it, what was the wet weather contingency plan, dress code, location, afternoon or evening? Anyone knows a good florist that does those floral arrangement for weddings? like decorating the chairs with flowers, etc. Any other good deco ideas dinner venue more 'unique'? the table and chairs r white (cannot change color 
) and i dun like white Anyone used wedding planners? Are they value for money or not necessary? for bridal studios, any good ones to recommend? and why? anyone knows of a good live band that will be good for wedding dinner? i was told hard liquor no corkage charge. if Jack, Jim and Johnny was served instead of Tiger, Merlot and Chardonnay, will it be very un-wedding like? the most important question: how to convince parents that having a wedding during chinese ghost festival is OK? 
(i dun wan to change date )
Haiz weddings are so leh chey (troublesome)... i'm getting a headache just thinking about it.

There's one very good florist (nice design, not cheena at all) i know of but forgot the name - they used to be at Upper Thomson but have moved to some shophouse off Beach Rd (I think)...will try to recall and let you know.

i oready go there and other wedding sites to research le. but the amount of comments are so large, it makes it hard for me to digest. worse is that most of the posts are not recent. a lot of them are like year 2004, 2005. for most hotels chefs & staff have high turnover. what is good in 2004 might not be good in 2007Originally posted by pqr:go thru www.singaprebrides.com for more ideas and sharing -

depending on theme, usually outdoor solmisation is more casual and relax... afternoon gives u better photos but hot lor

u have to decide on a color scheme and let the hotel knows.. usually they will cater their decor to ur needs... u want anything special, have to let them noe exactly wat u want.. if not u'll get the "standard" decor de... Anyone used wedding planners? Are they value for money or not necessary?
wedding planners help u ease off the burden of all the nitty gitty stuffs a wedding will bring... not necessary unless u have the cash for it... u just need a couple of close gfs who's married or been thru enuff weddings to help u... for bridal studios, any good ones to recommend? and why?
try look at the few at tanjong pagar... wedding news have a more "expensive" outlet along the same stretch... very nice gowns and each design is only one piece de.. anyone knows of a good live band that will be good for wedding dinner?

i prefer martell than wine lor... but yah dun look so "weddingly".. but hey u're there in ur gown to remind them wat!

this one hor.. seriously, it's difficult, esp. if ur parents are superstituous... unless u can tell them during tat period u got discounts for everything then u can afford the wedding otherwise they'll have to pay for it
and if they agree and u get a free wedding, then change date lah! save ur own $$ for a fantastic honeymoon! -

ya, gonna hand deposit to Rasa Sentosa tonight . Will be getting the Pavillion Ballroom, 30 + tables. It has 3 pillars but we are ok with that.
TX wans a jazz band & i hope it will not be too expensive. other than that we go no more ideas to make our wedding a 'unique' one

the actual dinner is a long way off. i'm just gan jong and wan to get to know more ideas
as for the dinner list, it is oready filled with pple that TX and I know - relatives (only close ones) & frens. We have not added gaming frens. dun know got space to invite them or not -

i suggest the unorthodox approach of asking pple who want to attend to do a potluck or a picnic.

After SO and me bought the resale flat, I still make him do the flowers and on-his-knees thing. The funniest thing was when I acted coy during the proposal, he'd actually got very upset. LOLs... -

You can try Botanical gardens and the Singapore Zoo too. Usually they set up tents so it provides shelter against the sun the rain. Dress code is usually cocktail party clothes. Been to both in afternoon and evening.

Mine was a garden theme. Yeah it was white but we had a pavillion in the hall and those garden arches and we gave out scented flower shaped candles

Since we had so many ppl coming to our ROM not going to have another dinner (I was supposed too but I think they forgot ) My ROM dress was bought off the rack. Bought it in less than an hour ><

I know all my friends mull over their wedding like no tomorrow. Maybe coz I had to get married since I already got the keys of my flat and to me, getting married is signing on the dotted line only since between the both of us, ROM is just to make it official.
