When I shopped for my wedding dress, I actually did it alone. I saw a dress I really like on the magazine so I went in to the shop to try it on. It didn't look great on me so I didn't buy it.
A few weeks later, I was going to buy something for my mum (to send it to her) and I happened to walk passed a bridal shop which I never knew it was there so I decided to go in and took a look. Tried on 2 dresses and one of them was the one I bought. So when I tried the one I bought, I fell in love with it and the price was quite reasonable so without much hesitation I just bought it. I actually bought it on lay-by, put some deposit and I had 3 months to pay it off. I could pay it off in one go but since I didn't need the dress yet, might as well let them keep the dress for me while I can free up some cash.
Also, for Western culture, you're not supposed to show your "hubby-to-be" your wedding dress until the actual wedding day!!

Does Don has any swim suit tan lines? If not, then okay for open shoulders gowns.
if have, you might want to consider staying out of the sun for a while or go for tan tru swimwear to eliminate tan lines totally. Gives a even tan.

You might want to take away the belt for a more classical look
Plus do you really want a belt to emphasize your waiseline?

Try to make sure you got clean cut plain coloured tablecloths on your wedding venue.
Dont want them fellas to gossip you are wearing tablecloths.

Got the tea set ready? Get extra teacups cos there is certainly not much time enough to wash the cups thoroughly if serving a huge numbers of family members at the tea ceremony.
And heres emergency kit list for any weddings: (Sorry, I am a bit rusty, will try to remember as much.)
A pretty hand held bag for the bridesmaid or ah yees if any.
Inside must contain:
1) Wet Tissues Packs
2) Dry tissues packs
3) oil blotter
4) cotton buds
5) talcum powder
6) comfy slippers
7) nail glue for the fake nails/nail colour & some enamel remover (get clear nail lacquer too for mending minute tears in lace & stockings)
hair spray (for the hair as well as the bouquet should a stem break)
9) bobby pins
10) big safety pins (good for the grooms corsages or should you some zippers tear
11) mineral water with disposable straws
12) mineral water mister
13) small scissors (dont let the bride handle those, there is taboos. so let the bridesmaid handle the sharp stuffs)
14) a transparent pouch bag. to keep jewelleries or knick knacks that you may need to remove or put on.
And oh....remember to take away the price stickers at the bottom of your shoes.
I know you're trying to save as much $$ as possible on your gown but I'd strongly suggest that you try to get it from places where you can actually try it on. Some dresses might look nice on someone on a picture but might not suit you and body shape after all. Like I told you the first dress I saw on the magazine that I really liked. When I went into the shop to try it on, it didn't turn out looking that wonderful on me.Originally posted by the_don:it is cheap too! less then USD500. i'm becoming a cheapo bride

It's a lot of $$ to spend on something that may not fit/suit you afterall. You will end up with more stress and disappointment.
