wah really ah? humm time for me to ask my fren where she got hers. or maybe i should head to sydney... hummm *lub chin*Originally posted by pwnz0r:From Shangri-La, not Mandarin. Confirm Melbourne gowns much much more expensive. I had some aussie PR friends that bought their gowns in Melbourne/Sydney and they definitely paid alot.
SG designer quality is good enough, with ok prices.
wedding car... i forgot abt that!Originally posted by pwnz0r:We actually wanted to find a black new VW beetle convertible as a wedding car, but the best we could find was the normal blue hardtop one.
So we just used our regular car.
erhm no la. i dun think i will have stomach for cake. i tot the cake thing is all for show onlyOriginally posted by pwnz0r:Eh, are you going to have a wedding cake? We got some fancy wedding magazines, and some cakes looked so fabulous. We didn't see the point for ours ofc.
Hmm, you know you dun buy gowns off the rack? Singaporean designers will make just one to fit you great.Originally posted by the_don:wah really ah? humm time for me to ask my fren where she got hers. or maybe i should head to sydney... hummm *lub chin*

Hey don don, if you are heading out this way, please let me know. I can show you different places that sell wedding gowns.Originally posted by the_don:2K for 3 vera wang gowns?! wah! good price. where did u get them? the link @ mandarin or from overseas?

Hope it wasn't your cousin's wedding that I attended. I was seasick throughout the entire 4 hour ordeal. They had the ceremony on the top deck (open air). Then it started raining so they had to pull the tarp over the top which made the air so stuffy. That was bad bad bad. Then the boat started to rock. BAD BAD BAD. At this point I just wanted to run below deck for relief. As soon as they said their "I do's" and kissed, zoom! I ran down to the lower deck where they had the buffet laid out. All I wanted was a seat and to rest my head on the table. All was well until the ceremoniously removed all the lids to the buffet spread and filled the air with smells from the buffet. That did it, I ran for the loo and *brrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaakkkkkkkk!* I didn't get any relief after spilling my guts out. I just couldn't wait for the bloody boat to get back to the WTC where I was the first one off. Never again.Originally posted by Artiwizoras:My cousin held one on a boat.
humm ya. but to find a designer that can make wat you like is not easy. i believe must have "mo4 qi4" one.Originally posted by pwnz0r:Hmm, you know you dun buy gowns off the rack? Singaporean designers will make just one to fit you great.

i'll probably go for off-white kind if color. material something soft and flow-y. i'm not exactly a crystals kind of gal, i think a bit wasted laOriginally posted by viciouskitty74:for wedding gowns, vera wang is the best.
fren did her soloem & dinner with raffles hotel.
the vera wang gowns were beautiful.
and she had her cheongsum tailored which looks beautiful for her tea ceremony.
there was another black gown she brought off the rack from Yen, and has swaroski crystal embroided waist down. It was spectacular when she and her hub did the waltz on the dance floor.
the gown cost $189/- the crystal embroidery is $1000/-
I had one gown tailored in demin materials imitating one of vera wangs creations, but its nowhere as spectacular, but at least the material looks different from the rest of the gowns that is available for the market. Did it at a CityPlaza tailor. And found some nice ready made cheong sum there too.
How about instead of a short gown, you try a denim material cheong sum? easier to do your solomisation & tea ceremony as it wont be so hot and you wont have to worry about spills or dirt getting onto your whites?
And the focus can then be on your assories, which you can get it cheap and pretty at Arab Street or Chemoleon outlets?
heyhey! thanks for the offer. will let you know if/when i head to melbOriginally posted by honeymouse:Hey don don, if you are heading out this way, please let me know. I can show you different places that sell wedding gowns.
If you were here last week, you could have been able to visit the store where I bought my wedding gown from. They had been having an end of lease sale up to 50% off. They have very nice gowns there. You can have a look at their collection on www.abbeybridal.com.au
Anyway, good luck on your wedding preparation. Just enjoy as much as you can and do not let the preparation stress you out too much. Remember, at the end of the day, it's the marriage between you and your partner you are celebrating about. No matter how hard you try to create a so-called "perfect" wedding, there's always minor thing that would come up. So just remind yourself over and over again that "no matter what comes up (if it rains, car is late etc), I am going to enjoy the day"
FYI, it rained on our wedding day but we had our wedding indoor anyway so it wasn't too disastrous.

I really cant understand Singaporeans that go register and then say we're not married and need the customary to be officially married. Odd, real odd.
Eh, thats not hintingOriginally posted by the_don:no la. haven't buy. i oready HINTed very loudly abt Charlotte Atelier.
every time we walk pass them at suntec, i'll drag TX to the window and say really really sweetly "dear, they got 105 facets, really look very brilliant, i think they are the best, I WAN MY RING FROM HERE"

At least these days parents (and some grandparents even) are more modern in thought. My mom gave me some sh*t, but I stood firm.Originally posted by the_don:blame the garment and old-fashion parents
if a couple can buy a hdb without the "gimme your ROM cert within 3months of collecting keys" crap, life would be a lot simpler.
seriously tho, the whole "we r not married, just ROM only" thing is odd. imo, if you sign the paper means u r married in the eyes of law, you can effectively sue your other half for alimony, claim his CPF etc. how can that not be consider married
as for parents, i guess it's just tradition to have the whole dong dong chang dinner before they consider their kids married.
imagines mum & dad saying "if your lao pei lao bu gotta suffer tradition, so must you. neh ni neh ni boo bo"
