To be frank, I know of a few psychos who actually stay back in the NUS Central Library every single night till 10pm from the very beginning of the semester.Originally posted by elindra:Fudgie you study too hard

I am so sianzzz.
Fudgie, you'd be suprised how many of this kind completely fall apart when they start working. Some of them cannot accept failure, and do not have the resileince to recover from setbacks.Originally posted by fudgester:To be frank, I know of a few psychos who actually stay back in the NUS Central Library every single night till 10pm from the very beginning of the semester.
I don't how these guys do it... I can only maintain all-out revision mode for about four weeks before I start to burn out.
But then again, those aforementioned guys are the ones with perfect point averages. I know that I can't get anywhere near their standard.
I just want to put in my best effort and accept whatever that happens.
You've got a point there.Originally posted by the Bear:are they good at anything other then answering exam questions
i've seen many who cannot do anything other than that...
Yeah.... I remember reading a very interesting HR article on academics who suck at learning at the workplace precisely because they have never tasted failure before.Originally posted by av98m:Fudgie, you'd be suprised how many of this kind completely fall apart when they start working. Sometimes it hits them even earlier. I had a few all A students in my platoon during NS that completely came apart at the seams because they could not take the army and the change of environment and spent their national service being transferred from unit to unit and probably saw the SAF counsellers more than their own parents. And mind you, none of them were even in combat vocations. Most were clerks. We had one such case in my dept and the bloke could not even do the simplest of tasks. He scored like 4 As for his A levels. I did not stay in touch with them and quite frankly I doubt if they are doing well in their working life, assuming they are even employed.Originally posted by fudgester:Yeah.... In the end, they end up not only fearing failure, but fearing the fear of failure itself.

I am paying thru my nose for insurance too ><Originally posted by av98m:*sigh*
and this is why I insure my ass to the hilt, if I ever kena cancer or whatever I can cover the cost of my treatment on my own without needing to be employed or becoming a burden to anyone else.
Another example that happened even earlier: A guy I know in uni from another faculty - he failed one paper in his first year - his very first failure in his whole life then. He couldn't take it and decided to transfer school - to another uni in another country.Originally posted by av98m:Sometimes it hits them even earlier.
