  Prices are sky rocketing though they are predicting even higher prices.

  I am waiting for the IRs to come closer to completion, by then prices should be even higher. Got chance for a good en-bloc deal too.

  I'm really hoping that eventually I can get a killer price for it, then go buy a much cheaper HDB flat(I'm not status conscious in the least), renovate it nicely, and pocket the difference

  signs are they will implode because of the ridiculous prices the speculators are pushing them to...
  
  it's like bloody Ukraine or one of those old Sov Bloc countries where apartments are unreasonable... it's like a few hundred to a few thousand times what the average person will earn in a lifetime.. and they are not luxury flats but normal apartments..
  
  so much so that the rich are buying them and leaving them to rot.. then selling them to other idiot rich for astronomical prices..

  another place is spain where the cost of rent will set an average person back at least 75% of their wages... expect that to crash too..

  but one such question stuck in my mind ... cos the follow-up to the question was "well ... you ain't canadian that's for sure .... "
  
  that sentence stayed with me for days ... it seemed to imply to me that no matter how "assimilated" I become ... even if I pay my dues, sink my roots, bring up little fatums here ... in the end, in the mind of some people ... I'll always be "foreign" ....
  
  I dunno ... perhaps not having my family here is one of the factors ... I still feel like some sort of drifter here, as comfortable as I am ... I avoid buying furniture, cos they'll be a burden ... I still sleep on a plain mattress on the floor, like a futon ... despite all the people I got to know here, my friends in singapore are still dearest to me, and perhaps that's why I love this forum, cos it's a life line to life back home ... it keeps me sane perhaps ...
  
  sometimes on one of those deep freezing winter nights I'd regress into my previous life in singapore ... mid-night prata with friends, over-night fishing trips with my mates, yakking in singlish, dreaming of the future, thinking of the sweaty NS days in number 4 ....
  
  oh well ... it must be the beer talking ....
