Yes, I dispute you saying that ADD doesn't exist.Originally posted by the Bear:i still think it's a scam made up by pharmaceutical companies to sell more pills..
heck! it's just pent up energy from inactivity....
i know the cult leader disputes this but ADD is a hoax and perpetrated to sell Ritalin to the masses...
read about it here => The Great ADD Hoax
and if you know anything about the big corporations, poisoning of children is acceptable to them if it can cause a market to be created and profits to be made.. i think pinkybear can tell you that worse atrocities have been done in order to pursue profit
Will taking anti-histamines cause a long term effect?Originally posted by the Bear:anti-histamines.. will knock you out for a while..
the runny nose is actually an allergic reaction which produces histamines... the medication controls this..
and it's short-term relief which may help you dry out your sinus cavities, allowing them to heal...
the alternative is gross but also effective... snort salt water... it'll clean out your sinus cavities, and kill any infection which may be causing the runny nose, and dry it out...
Bingo!!Originally posted by av98m:a lot of kids are so over-medicated its ridiculous.
kids are by nature rather active and what's happening is that many of them are quite literally being sedated by doctors!!!!
I think because during the child bearing years, females can have more fat (females have higher percentage of fats than males do. ) in the body as the hormones in some ways help regulating it. But as soon as females hit menopause, we don't have the hormones to regulate the fat in us and hence resulting a higher risk of getting heart problem.Originally posted by Rhonda:Oh, one thing about female hormones - it's estrogen that buffers females from getting heart attacks at the age group where more and more males get afflicted by it. At the age group where menopause typically occurs, it's been found that the percentage of females who get heart attacks increases.
Thank you, thank you.Originally posted by Rhonda:jetta, interesting topic!
I think I'm in good health but *touch wood!!! ... quite pan-tang to say something like that!! *knocks on wood!!!
For a long while, esp since I attended Nursing School and learnt stuff and self-diagnosed my female problem, I thought I had glucose intolerance and will surely have diabetes (NIDDM aka Type II) someday one.
Then, when I attended a 2-day Diabetes Management Seminar in Jan this year, voila! - over two days of blood sugar level testing using the hypocount machine 2-3 times each day, I realised that there's nothing wrong with my body's insulin mechanism!! Yippeee!! Bing! Bing! Bing!! No worries, mate!
When I attended another 2-day seminar on Coronary Ailments (ie. Heart Attacks and such), I thought, die, since I'm hypertensive, someday sure peng sanz from heart attack one! Then, ta-daaaaa!! The latest findings in the medical field suggests that the BMI is an inaccurate tool in gauging obesity! PHEW!!! Rather, another test - the Waist-Hip ratio, is being hailed as a much better gauge and when I calculated my input, I was definitely well within the normal range!! Bing! Bing! Bing!! No worries again, mate!
Last night, I suddenly had a bad pain over the right side of my chest above me boob. I thought, die... take deep breath it hurt so much I had to stop. But, can't be a sign of heart attack because that'll be on the left side and I don't have radiating pain, etc etc. But then again, for females, the signs and symptoms can be different from males and there's yet to be adequate data supplied for females at this stage. Then I thought, no need to be a hypochondriac - I'm actually really healthy and definitely much healthier than when I was in SG!
So now, besides having to take a Beta-blocker every morn for my HPT (full gamut of tests run to find out why and the Prof concluded - hereditary cause. ), and besides the odd aches and pain in me back and neck (work-related strains), I'm alright, mate!
I don;t take pill.Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:So please don't tell me that females don't take the Pill, that's a form of hormonal therapy. In fact, some endocrinlogists do prescribed hormone therapy for those women with heavy periods and several menstrual cramps.
Hey I am starting to get chest pains each time i take deep breaths too...Originally posted by Rhonda:jetta, the clicking in your knees when you walk sounds like a potential joint problem.
As the years go by, our body undergoes natural deterioration from normal wear-and-tear. Very often, the lubricant that exists in our joints deplete and don't get replaced enough. Or, the ligaments become less supple, etc. Lots of reasons why our joints will start to be problematic.
It's a good idea to start taking enough calcium. Doctors recommend that we should have started taking calcium at the RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) from our teenage years onwards, but now is not too late. Better late than never!
Glucosamine might provide you with some relief. I understand that it helps to augment the joints. I've asked a Pharmacist before if it was necessary to take Glucosamine with Chondroitin pills or would plain ol' Glucosamine suffice and I was told that the latter is good enough. (There's apparently a difference in cost).
Start taking Glucosamine now! It will not cure, but it might improve the situation a wee bit.
Re: calcium supplements. I hear you. I've been popping them for a few years now. Just so others know, Vitamin D helps in the absorbtion of calcium so make sure your calcium supplements include Vitamin D. If it doesn't, you can pop Vitamin D separately. To further maximise absorbtion, space your intake out. Once in the AM and once in the PM.Originally posted by Rhonda:jetta, the clicking in your knees when you walk sounds like a potential joint problem.

Looks like body parts are easily worn out with age.. getting old liao
I was starting to think maybe its sleeping posture. When you lie on oneside for too long?Originally posted by Rhonda:You too?!
For the past 3-4 nights, I've had a nocturnal onset of pretty bad crushing chest pains on the right side! It hurts to take deep breaths and I cannot complete the deep inspiration because of the pain. Thank goodness it's not on the left side, otherwise, jialat, have to do an angiogram stat!
Still don't know what it might be. My ECG taken 1.5 years ago was normal. It doesn't sound like cardiac in origin but, I worry. I've told a few colleagues that should I not turn up for work, follow their noses and give me a decent last office!
BTW, these pains are associated with really weird and bizarre nightmares too! Last few nights, have been dreaming of running away from some kinda disasters - evil ghosts, floods, and last night, a large golden-white python that eats everyone in sight!
Everynight since the chest pains occured, I went to bed praying I'll wake up alive. Darn pan-tang! Shouldn't have said I was in 'good health'!
