  I am using a Tiger brand rice cooker at home and I am quite happy with it. We also bought one for my mother-in-law a few years ago. That was a year after we bought her a local brand one and within a year all the teflon on the pan peeled off.
  
  It's slightly expensive but it's worth it as it can last a long time.

  I have one of those that has a steamer tray on top ..... that is very useful for instant chicken rice ....
  
  I'll marinate the chicken with soy sauce, sesame seed oil and cook the rice with ginger and garlic and pandan leaves ......
  
  when the rice is done the chicken would be nice, juicy and tender ....

  Yeah I still like the rice cooker where you just press 1 button and I do like that you can take the whole holding area out to wash and clean

  I dont really like eating rice.
  
  Cos I always seem to choke on rice.
  
  So outside, when i eat rice, I always has to have a fizzy drink on standby. Cos when I choke, I drink the fizzy drink to open up the throad and make swallowing easier.
  
  But rice cooker, I am really getting very used to my sister's one cos it really can do rice and porridge and I dont even has to pay mind to it until its ready and it beeps me. Especially good with porridge, red bean porridge or multi-grain sweet porridge.
  
  And I even managed to dig out a steamer attachment for that rice cooker and it works real well to steam some foodstuffs, enough for a 2 person meal anytime.
