the result is desired so they go make up data to "support" it..
even if the data proves otherwise, they'll go cover it up

different values.Originally posted by fudgester:Sigh... kids are getting cynical at a younger and younger age.
I'd far rather fail an exam and retake the module than resort to cheating.
To be frank, I've seen far too many cases of blatant cheating, such as when common tests are held in packed lecture theatres with no spaces in between each candidate.
At such times, I'd see some of my supposed 'friends' comparing answers with each other and making adjustments where necessary....
... and they would mock me for not wanting to share my answers or modify them.
hmmz the part about the feet sounds familiarOriginally posted by av98m:no I'm not
that fella is insane.

i would agree that it hurts others. but then i've often said that technically almost all our actions hurt others.
cheating is bad? but if i think of it from another angle, its just another method to achieve the goals if you don't think its bad. so why is it bad?
I wonder if ths analogy is valid:
we have 2 men, 1 is a warrior/knight with strong convictions about honour and refuses to even run away because its against his honour even if hes against some super warrior that pwns him with eyes closed and limbs tied.
the other is a coward, he runs away, gets help from a sniper to kill the super warrior.
its a one on one situation, 1 decided to fight to death for honour and whatever, the other guy cheats( by the definition of the knight). but is there one of them definitely right?
Yes, different values. your example suggests that the ends justifies the means.Originally posted by hisoka:different values.

actualy i think it doesn't say that the ends justifies the means. i feel it more of just says different values.Originally posted by av98m:Yes, different values. your example suggests that the ends justifies the means.
Now, I think LKY should drop dead quickly for the good of the country. However, if given a clear shot at him with a high powered rifle, I will not take the shot. Another person might feel that he/she is doing a good deed by taking the shot.
different values.

dunno leh.. are they mormons or jehovah witnesses?
cos tt time when I was in Australia, they have those wear white shirt, name tag, knock at my door and pass me literature on jehovah Witness leh
Or .. were they mormons?! when i think of mormons i think of Utah and bearded men with many wives...
i've said it, almost everythign we do hurts others. if we take out the word steal and jsut put earn or take, does it sound better to you? so if to the person doing the steal, stealing is merely another way of earning the thing?Originally posted by the Bear:you work all your life to get what you desire and i come steal it from you...
good?
I work my ass off to get my grades in an honest manner purely from my own effort. And you've all seen for yourselves how much that effort has cost me.Originally posted by hisoka:different values.

of course personally i feel its bad, but thinking in another way........
hmmz. okz how about if it was 2 on 2, both would have died if just fought, one "cheated" and survived or maybe even saved the other guy although it was against the knight's honour? anyway that was illustrating different values.Originally posted by fudgester:I work my ass off to get my grades in an honest manner purely from my own effort. Then some slacker punkass comes along and does better than me because he gets the answers from the fella next to me. Fair?
And your analogy doesn't apply here. I can just as easily say that the knight who fought to the death was dumb to stand his ground while the other was a lot smarter, knowing that he can count on a sniper as reinforcements. So I won't really say that the second knight was cheating; only that he was smarter.
And the second knight didn't exactly hurt the first knight with his actions.
1. Life may be unfair, but that rich ass kid isn't cheating. So I can't (and never will) have a grudge on that kid.Originally posted by hisoka:hmmz lets see, we work our ass off and get a miserable pay and a miserabl living. some rich ass's kid slacks all his life and has fun while getting lots of money cos he gets money from his dad that lasts him a lifetime and more. i feel its unfair, but i guess thats life.
in fact ia ctually feel the cheating in exams is fairer that the rich kid case. ecause at least in this case the cheater takes risk and requires effort
anyway my points is i don't feel its right, but if i don't impose my values on others and think along another line, it suddenly turns out all straight. even if it results in a world i don't like. i say this because the world and it values keep changing.
btw i would report the person cos its hurting my grades and i don;t think its right. well that unless its just an unimportant test or exam like sec 3 mid terms
