Well, what these cheaters think is that no one else is being harmed, and all that happens is that they benefit...
But what they don't realise is that their actions really hurt other people who want to do things the old-fashioned honest way.
To be frank, it really hurts me to think that all those sleepless nights, elevated blood pressure and bouts of depression that I've had would all come to moot by someone else who tries to get his grades through less-than-noble means.
Hell, there's a reason why I came down extremely hard on that plagiarist in my team... he simply didn't seem to comprehend that his actions could have hurt everyone else in my team.
Now he has finally come to his senses and individually apologised to the team members... but the damage has already been done.
I have since forgiven him, but I flatly refuse to work with him again in the future. -

anyway, yeah, the ends justify the means these days, it seems.
happens at the highest levels too, look at the PAP and what they've been doing these years. -
finally solved the slightly over-emphasied treble in my hi-fi by placing anti-vibration feet under my speakers, replacing the previous aluminium/brass footers. now it can be played at defeaning volumes without causing listening fatigue.

To be frank, I've seen far too many cases of blatant cheating, such as when common tests are held in packed lecture theatres with no spaces in between each candidate.
At such times, I'd see some of my supposed 'friends' comparing answers with each other and making adjustments where necessary....
... and they would mock me for not wanting to share my answers or modify them.
i would agree that it hurts others. but then i've often said that technically almost all our actions hurt others.
cheating is bad? but if i think of it from another angle, its just another method to achieve the goals if you don't think its bad. so why is it bad?
I wonder if ths analogy is valid:
we have 2 men, 1 is a warrior/knight with strong convictions about honour and refuses to even run away because its against his honour even if hes against some super warrior that pwns him with eyes closed and limbs tied.
the other is a coward, he runs away, gets help from a sniper to kill the super warrior.
its a one on one situation, 1 decided to fight to death for honour and whatever, the other guy cheats( by the definition of the knight). but is there one of them definitely right? -

Now, I think LKY should drop dead quickly for the good of the country. However, if given a clear shot at him with a high powered rifle, I will not take the shot. Another person might feel that he/she is doing a good deed by taking the shot.

like the knight thought one on one was fair while the other guy thought it wasn't fair for him if the opponent was overpowered. i don't think any one now would do what the knight did unless there was an overriding reason to confront the opponent like protecting others

the main diff i found among the descriptions seems to the tie
those Mormons who approached me, apparently had ties on for the men..

about the cheating case, i still rmb our teacher telling us bout this girl who wrote answers on her arm.. but she was such a lousy actress that she got caught few mins after she started cheating..

Then some slacker punkass comes along and does better than me because he gets the answers from the fella next to me. Fair?
And your analogy doesn't apply here. I can just as easily say that the knight who fought to the death was dumb to stand his ground while the other was a lot smarter, knowing that he can count on a sniper as reinforcements. So I won't really say that the second knight was cheating; only that he was smarter.
And the second knight didn't exactly hurt the first knight with his actions. -

by cheating in exams, i have stolen from the one who worked hard to get that scholarship.. i have stolen the place of those who could get into the university, the class...

hmmz lets see, we work our ass off and get a miserable pay and a miserabl living. some rich ass's kid slacks all his life and has fun while getting lots of money cos he gets money from his dad that lasts him a lifetime and more. i feel its unfair, but i guess thats life.
in fact ia ctually feel the cheating in exams is fairer that the rich kid case. ecause at least in this case the cheater takes risk and requires effort
anyway my points is i don't feel its right, but if i don't impose my values on others and think along another line, it suddenly turns out all straight. even if it results in a world i don't like. i say this because the world and it values keep changing.
btw i would report the person cos its hurting my grades and i don;t think its right. well that unless its just an unimportant test or exam like sec 3 mid terms -
1. Life may be unfair, but that rich ass kid isn't cheating. 2. The cheater takes risk and effort, but so did that honest student who takes risk and effort into studying.
3. I don't impose my values upon others, but I hate it when I have to suffer at the hands of people who see it fair to impose their values of cheating on me.
