heehee ya i went to singaporebrides and got some contacts too but they all above budget (250 and above). actually i'm yakking over there while posting hereOriginally posted by choco B:Off hand I don't have a seamstress to recommend. I could ask my mom.
When do you require dress?
Most seamstresses will advise you to bring photos of your desired style and buy own fabric. Fabric can be bought at Arab Street. Best if you could bring photo to consult with seamstress then decide what fabric (color, type, length etc) to buy.
I hate to sound repetitive but singaporebrides.com will probably contain some recs from the other forum users .
aiyah.... oh well bo bian.. not fated i guess..Originally posted by viciouskitty74:Don....I just gave away a purple dark lilac colour gown to my friend last month on my last trip in Singapore last month.
Manzz.....timing really good leh you.
Ok. Here's where the gown came about.
its a simple spag strap crossed at the upper back. Empire neckline and the lower bust line stop just under the tatas. Then its a A-line flow under the tatas to the heels. 6 panels of materials down.
Material was purchased from Spotlight and its heavy.
Tailored at the ground floor seamstress at City Plaza at geylang, PayaLebar, Tg Katong Junction.
Cost of materials: $30/-
Cost of Tailoring: $120/- (Including bra pads, lining is their own materials & zipper at the back.) I dont remember the shop name or the old couple doing the tailoring liao.
If really in dire needs, then go to Arthur Yen or Daniel Yen boutique or something, Grab a gown and go to the neighbourhood seamstress to sew in the bra pads so you can go braless, and it means less fidgeting with the dress since you dont have to worry about lower back bra straps showing or peeking up from the neckline.
it would be enough time. Dont worry.Originally posted by the_don:need the dress end of june, dun know if 1 month is enough time for the seamstress

Yessh Thai silk really very nice. my dress although very simple ( one big lobang behind) got so many complements..... the dress and material not me...Originally posted by viciouskitty74:Yep, thai silk dresses are beautiful to tailor make.
The fibres and the different shades hidden in the silk materials shows under different lightings.
If you can afford a short trip to Thailand. You can try tailoring for a unique piece of gown or cheongsum.
But take note that thai silk material are kinda loose in the threads, so you dont want a gown or dress tailored too tight to your body or it might stretch and spilt at the seams when you move.
They arent as elastic and they pill easily.
really good thai silk, not cheap and easy to come by. But the material itself, goes very well with a simple plain design gown.
any good place to recommand if i go to bkk?Originally posted by viciouskitty74:Yep, thai silk dresses are beautiful to tailor make.

That must be a terrible experience and torture to squeeze your well-endowed assets into something small and worse still, two cups smaller... Your boobies, if they have a mind and mouth, they would be screaming out loud and desperate to break free from the tight spot they were in...Originally posted by browniebaobao:U are so brilliant.
I wore a black dress with straps on the shoulders and at the back to my co's DnD.
I din have a strapless bra with my size. So I squeezed into a much smaller bra that belongs to my sis.. 2 cm and 2 cups smaller.. and the feeling was terrible man..
