When in doubt, always refer back to your letter of employment to see what had been specifically arranged. Does the company have the liberty to change your work schedule with which you have to accept (unlikely). Were you compensated for the extra hours you had put in?
Should things come to a head when you talk to your HR, you should refer to the Ministry of Manpower's Labour Relations Department for help. There's no necessity to quit so fast. See what the MoM people can do first. You can always quit if efforts at a reconcilliation fail..... Stand your ground - Don't be pushed around by the bullying attitude of companies!

jetta, you don't have to feel guilty at all.
the agreement was 20hrs a week, the am shift.
anymore is a favor on your side. let your manager know that. state very clearly that you have other priorities that cannot be forsaken. -

I'm not in Sg. Before I was hired, the store GM told me that part timers can pretty much set their own schedule, declining unsuitable shifts, etc. Which sounded good to me. As for a salary, I don't have one. I work on straight commission. I called and talked to my manager this morning, telling her that I cannot work outside of the AM shift, although I can put in a few more hours here and there. (See above reply.) You could be right. My dept is very shorthanded. New people are hard to come by because they don't like the fact that we are 100% commission. She just hired two new people but they are young college guys. I've having second thoughts about accepting that dating line job. I just cannot imagine having to listen to people's requirements in a partner, sexual fantasies, etc for hours on end.
