Here are some photos taken on my holiday to Hokkaido early this May
THE SCENERY
Lake Toya on a misty morning (paiseh not much to see, haha! )
Jigokudanim, also known as the Hell Valley. Sulphurous valley with boiling ponds and steaming streams.

Sounkyo mountain. Spring came late to Hokkaido this year, so there is still plenty of snow on the ground.

THE BUILDINGS

Romantic town of Otaru, filled with shops selling music boxes, crystalware and glassware.

THE FLORA AND FAUNA
We were lucky to catch the first few blooms of sakura. As mentioned above, spring came late.

THE FOOD
Hotel set dinner 1. Eating these set meals is like running a marathon! Need to have attack strategy, pacing, etc.

Cream puff - super thin pastry and full of fresh cream!
Strawberries were amazingly good : )~~

The last supper was at a BBQ buffet restaurant aptly named Eat Up. HUGE variety of BBQ and cooked food at only about S$20 per head!!

FAVOURITE SOUVENIR FROM TRIP
Handphone charm - dunno what the hell is it but it's annoyingly cute This is a green-colored character with a ball at its crotch. (Mine is wearing a bear suit). Its merchandise is found all over Hokkaido. What you do with the doll is, you pull the ball that is attached with a string to the doll, and when the string retracts, the doll shudders "KURU-KURU" I just call it kuru-kuru. If anyone knows what the character is, do enlighten me!!

OH wow!!! The scenery is breathtaking!! The thinly-veiled mists cast a pretty and romantic allure to the landscape! That, plus the freezing cold must make it a really wonderful place to cuddle and enjoy yet another honeymoon!
PS. don't know what the kuru-kuru means but could it be something vulgarly cute?

I wonder is it less tempting because there isn't someone who would put a morsel in his mouth and then go "MMMmmm .. Oishiii! "
But I agree it was not top-notch fine dining on this trip.
I think the food in a sense was not a let-down - they brought us to eat all the must-eats , crab, ramen, etc. You can opt for the better quality stuff e.g. seafood, urchin, beef, etc. - just pay your way.

That's what the tour guide encouraged us to do when it started to drizzle - see the beauty in the mist

I thought my old Ixus would have died on me but results turned out ok.
It was about 6-13 degrees celcius - we enjoyed the cold v much. Technically, it is late spring when we were there.

Always wanted to go to Hokkaido
But so far both of us had been busy with work
