Actually, that's just a personal preference.
Camera's using AA batteries tend to be bigger, less slim and compact.
Also, AA batteries will not last as long as a Lithium battery. Especially the non-rechargeable AAs, those get depleted extra fast. It does help if you get those super long life batteries like what Enegizer has just for digital cameras, but nothing beats a lithium battery.
Still, I guess some people would just prefer to buy new batteries off the shelf when power runs out. But you gotta find the store too, and you must see how often you seem to be buying. It's additional cost afterall. As compared to rechargeables or Lithium where the only extra cost is the power, and if you're staying in a hotel room, the electricity used to chrage is already covered under your hotel bills.
