How come no one mentioned Protege?
Personally I thought it's one of the best Asian flicks after Infernal Affairs.
Brought my dad to watch and he left with a heavy heart. I think the acting was good and it packs a good story and moral behind it. -
Election 1 and Election 2 is a damn zai show.

I didn't watch Election I but Election II was definitely very good as well. I recently heard that Louis Koo was a thug and had been in the slammer for robbery. Is that why he play gangster roles so well? haha just jesting. I happen to think that he's a very good actor. -

Windstruck is good for those romance minded.
Dance minded may like Innocent Steps.
Lies is another Korean film off the beaten path to a psycopath's mind.
Spider Lilies is a complicated Taiwan Lesbian film. -

Too bad I went around hunting for the VCD / DVD for The Maid when I was back in Singapore but it was not available anywhere! I knew I shoud've bought a copy before I left!
The Maid is a horror movie Singapore should be proud of!

Yeah, I watched the DVD for Protege when I was in Melbourne. It was really superb acting! You really felt for the villain in the show, acted by Andy Lau even. Makes you realise the 'bad guys' may not be all bad... -

"Love Letters" from Japan is a very sentimental tearjerker that you won't forget because it's really so touching!
So was "Hachi-Ko", another Jap movie about the undying faithfulness and loyalty of a man's dog, who kept going to the train station to wait for him to come home despite the man having had a stroke on board the train months ago. Hachi never failed to turn up at the station to wait for his owner, all the way till his own death. There's a statue of Hachi, the dog, somewhere in Japan. It's a real-life story.
Then there's this coming-of-age China production, Xiu Xiu. An innocent girl gets deflowered, all the while hoping that one of the men who lied to her will actually redeem her from the desolate, barren land she was banished to during the Cultural Revolution. Very very sad. -
