hey all, i'm doing a little survey on the public's perception of self-harm
>>link to survey:
http://www.my3q.com/go.php?url=onslaught/39567self-harm is defined as the the deliberate hurting of oneself, of these include hitting, cutting or burning oneself, pulling hair and binge drinking.
self-harm is commonly associated with the emo fad i guess; according to daily conversations and perhaps stereotypes.. I remember a few months ago, there was an article in the straits times telling parent's to beware of emo kids, simply because of the threat of self-harm..
while there are many reasons as to why people self-harm, of these include relief from problems, peer pressure and simply because they think it is cool. Well, the first option might seem more justifiable, but are there other alternatives to it, since self-harming leaves a permanent scar on your body, and for that moment of escape and relief, it might not be that worth it after all.
while that's my take on the issue, i wonder what's yours and are self-harmers really discriminated in society? is self-harm still considered as taboo??
these are the little questions that pop up whenever facing with society's problems
do complete the survey. thanks a mill!
