I should put ALL the pictures in the same post right? Oh who cares.. I'll put scenery there and here's some which I'll caption...
Our table mat in our tents. The young kitchen staff (gorgeously sculpted young men may i add) were very sweet and went to look for some pretty wild flowers to adorn our table when we were away for our glacier trek. We had fun playing cards with them and they also taught us a couple of Pakistani card games. Useful phrase = "TIMBAR!" it means "KILLED!" -
I need to go backpacking like this armed with a couple of old mechanical film cameras

I woke up to look for some toilet space in the morning... (there was a toilet structure but really...) and saw lonesome cow grazing on the mountain.
Cows are funny creatures. They are very curious really. a couple of them insisted of staring at us at our kitchen tents even if they've been chased away many times. They just keep returning and staring.
and no, we were not eating beef at that time. -

some pictures of our Glacier treks. this is the Minapin Glacier. we trekked for 5 hours to a green clearning opposite our base camp (could not reach Diran base camp) and had our lunch. very light lunch. cold chapati biscuits and some sardines.
Walnuts.
...then we trekked 5 hours back. somehow between the 6th and 7th hour trekked, the scenery slowly blended into an amorphous white and my subconscious took over.

And errr.. this bridge is really difficult to cross.. .. the water at the side and all that... oh, I didn't rotate it again huh.
I tihnk becos I dont know how to do the rotate in Photobucket. It isnt working leh so i guess u all have to rotate the screen a bit.
Ok it isnt tt difficult but its quite long. I was taking forever, slowly taking step by step, making sure I don't fall in between the gaps (actually dunno why I scared. Looking back, I'll probably be stuck) and villager was waiting patiently behind me until i grasped hold on the sides and let him passed.
he just passed by me trotting without holding on to anything... bah. -

this part of pakistan used to be ruled by tribal lords and maharajahs. Only less than 50 years before ceded under Pakistan rule. At one time it was called "Yirgystan" or something which means Land beyond the law.
As tourists, they don't disturb you but most of these places still under tribal rather than federal law. -

2. Chapati/Naan/Prata
3. Potato Carrot Stew
4. Lamb/Beef Stew (Very oily)
5. Fried Chicken (very hard)
6. Dhal
7. Egg custard/Cherries
Breakfasts are consistently
1. Fried Egg
2. Porridge
3. Bread
4. marmalade -

this company gave us very new sturdy 4 season tents. its hot in the day but at night.... brrrr!! -

BTW, did you encounter eating places where it's normal for the customers to share drinking cups? We found out too late.

oh yes, lots of tea... we had different types, not masala tea. We had temuro tea which is their mountain tea and wild rose tea. But lots of lipton tea too, don't ask me why!Originally posted by Wanda:No chai - the delicious spice tea?

The tea was good.
I dont know why I got tired of the food and yes yes! it was the tomato cucumber and onion salad too that saved the day. perhaps it was just too oily and rich.
Heehee mostly cos it is a full board package tour we ate at the lodges and hotels. but i noticed at some other places, people drank and then just put the cup back. hurhurhur...
even though its full board, a couple of the people on the tour had diarrheoa on and off throughout :O
