I quickly called up the NSmen hotline, sorted things out with the operator, and got him to agree with me that a colossal screw-up had occurred which could have caused me to unintentionally go AWOL had I taken the letter at face value.
As it turned out, the letter was meant for someone else altogether.
The scary thing is.... that letter was signed by a MAJ.

Just picked up a copy of the Ghost In The Shell: Solid State Society Limited Collector's Edition DVD box set that was released by Bandai USA today. The set comes with the movie DVD, another DVD containing a boatload of extras, and the CD movie soundtrack by (woohoo!) Yoko Kanno, all housed in a sturdy and attractive aluminium keepcase.
The MSRP of the box set is $30, but Best Buy (a nationwide media/electronics retail chain) has it on sale for $13 for three days following its release. Frankly, I would have paid $13 just for the soundtrack CD.
That's one heck of a killer deal. -

You know how much I paid for the soundtrack alone? (but ok lah, that was the japanese first press edition)
The fucked thing is that our local customs will stop DVD shipments -
