In my line of work, I see the equivalent of that all the time: an unwed and unemployed mother of five kids (with the sixth on the way) surviving entirely off of public assistance. And she's not even 21 yet.

You know I didn't want kids for the reason that I don't want them to suffer in this world, but everyone we've met will tell us we're being selfish. They probably think we are just thinking of ourselves and that we'll regret later in life.
Just think about it: between us (who expects to grow old alone) and them who wants to have kids so that they have someone to look after them in their old age - just who is being selfish here?
If only they'd just stop to really think. -

Once, in the MRT, a group of young exec looking fellas squeezed in. And a guy with white long sleeve came in with his back towards me.
He banged his back into me.
And I left a lovelyperfect pretty lip shaped lipstick mark at his right lower shoulder blade.

say.. those who work in the frontline and meet with the public.. do you guys have this sign that say "we value our staff.. blah blah.." and all kinds of things like that saying that the members of the public will get it if they try to abuse the staff?

that sign has been up for ages...
it came about because one of our stuff got assaulted by some member of the public.. the asswipe spent some time in prison..
some NZ people asked us about the sign because they remembered it from a few years back.. one of their staff just got abused...
and guess what? someone really really high up decides that 'we must review if this sign is necessary'
the stupid boss reads it as 'he wants it taken down' and goes about trying to get reasons to take it down..
while we just went about doing the actual review and found that the staff is happier with it up... and that we can use it to remind people that we are not to be trifled with..
but the boss wants it down because someone really high up 'says to review means he wants it taken down'
