I ordered a new field pack and the new black duffel bag through the emart online service. I didn't want to buy them in camp (ITI - Tanjong Gul Camp) since I knew that they sell like hot cakes in camp and would sell out very quickly.Originally posted by the Bear:i've bought nothing but running shoes with my emart credits

Some people I know used to serve in the US armed forces. they told me spending one's own money to purchase items needed for field operations either because they are in short supply or just plain inadequate for the task at hand is common. and they were talking about basic items like batteries, flashlights laces, socks, gloves, goggles and stuff!!! Seems most of the defence budget goes to high tech toys like planes and missles but they can't even issue decent boots and packs for the ground forces.Originally posted by fudgester:As I pointed out to the guy....
I ordered a new field pack because my old one had all its plastic buckles broken. Considering that I was going for live heli-ops (I was waiting to be transported to the LZ at Pasir Laba), I didn't want to risk having things falling out of the field pack and dropping out of the chopper while in the air.
Ok, to be fair to the guy, maybe it's not his fault..... maybe someone else was supposed to call me but didn't do so. And I do feel a little bad for blasting him to pieces over the phone.
But when I'm out in the frontline risking my neck, I can't have my performance impeded just because some idiot in the rear echelon f***ed up.
