Here's the plan, and it's simple - we meet for dinner at Ramu's, then hunt down the ice-cream, crabs or prata in the surrounding area. All are welcome.Ramu's is an Indian restaurant at
207 Upp Thomson Rd. Free flow of salad, popadom and briyani/white rice for $1.80, and then there are the dishes - grilled yoghurt chicken, whole cuttlefish in squid ink, fried fish roe, curries, rasam soup etc. (No, they're not for free
but there's no service charge or GST on top of that) Don't worry, there are forks and spoons and banana leaves!
The flower crabs are at Crab Shack (same row of shophouses), prata is across the street at Roti Prata House and so is Icekimo's ice-cream and cheese brownies, and the goreng pisang at Longhouse sells out quickly.
Date: Friday 20th July 2007
Time: 7:45 p.m.Getting there: The only wee problem is that traffic along UTR (after Lornie Road) will be slow. Approaching via Marymount Rd and then turning into Shunfu Rd, or approaching from the opposite direction of UTR.
Parking's available along the road outside the restaurant (not easy to find a space though!), Thomson Ridge (up the hill just behind the shophouses, there's a staircase leading down), and Shunfu estate (across the road, 5 min walk).
The nearest train station is Bishan - take 52 or 410 (loop) from the bus interchange, it's a 20 minute ride. It's also served by 130, 132, 162, 163, 165, 166, 167, 855 and 980.
