Manual or automatic?

Which do you prefer?
I used to drive only manual cars but recently, I've started favouring automatics. Only because I'm getting older and my left knee sometimes hurts. All the clutch work is just not helping. -

but oso gd lah... if u dun hv the passion to drive anymore... autos are more favourable -

I prefer automatic transmissions without a doubt...I've never had a problem with them and replacing clutches is an unnecessary pain in the arse...

I'd get a car with a manual transmission because it's lighter and easier to maintain. The performance argument isn't relevant anymore as some automatics (not 'clutchless' or sequential gearboxes) can perform faster gearshifts.

Anyway, wonder how do bus depots maintain their gearboxes. Never heard of a Voith (or ZF) unit going kaput in 16 years. -
This is how I've felt about manual transmissions for a long time. I guess when you start having knee problems, you have to compromise. I've been thinking about replacing my Jetta with an auto version but I really don't want a car payment since mine's free and clear. auto is convenient, but manual is more fun and gives you somethign to do i guess -

doesn't matter to me.. although even after driving my car for the past 2 years (it's an automatic transmission) my left foot still reaches out

Manual, because the pick up is better, better control at certain road conditions.
But pain in the arze when you are stuck in traffic jams.
Autos are good for folks that are injured, stroke victim or has painful joints. Or you are often stuck in traffic jams. -

auto is convenient, but manual is more fun and gives you somethign to do i guess I have a trick knee which sometimes locks. *ouch* The hubster's knees have been comprised after 20 years of going up and down steep steel steps on various ships. Before this, no probs, give me manual anytime.
