No need to go to Cannes laOriginally posted by Celtic Knot:Me and Boss (half chinese, half angmoh) were at Cannes once.. he said : Look, the dogs here are more well-behaved than the Singapore Kids..
the dogs sat by their own at cafe, tails tugged in, waiting patiently.
when pple gave them a pat on their head, they responded gently..
Agreed..

3. Dont let your little brats run wild. You chose to ignore the safe sex caution. Now bear the consequences.
errmmm...the few times I tried to do that I was threatened with violence or actually attacked. didn't matter if it was an auntie or uncle or younger person.Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:My 5 cents worth:
Speak up!! If you see something inappropriate, TELL the person directly how you feel. You don't have to be rude to be honest. In fact, i don't believe that bad behaviour from someone else is an excuse for rudeness. We all lose control when we are angry at times (i have lots of times man!!!), but just pointing out that someone else's rudeness does not give us the right to be rude in return.
And if you are already speaking up, great! Don't lose faith in humankind.
Was?Originally posted by the Bear:i was a quiet terror
no one but no one knew of the mischief i got up to
but strangely, i was never terrible or did anything to anyone's stuff.. and that included supermarkets and malls.. apart from a bottle of cooking oil falling off the shelf by itself and spilling its contents at my feet making me unable to walk away because of the slippery gunk
i think someone on the other side hit the shelf.. because i didn't even touch it, i was minding my own business as usual
It'd be even more shameful if the foreign students get dragged into the crush. I'd stand on a bench and tell to "wake up their bloody ideas".Originally posted by fudgester:Just remember.... academic success doesn't equate to high EQ....
The &#$#$ freshmen were at it again for the lecture just now.... Would it kill them to allow most of the previous class to leave before rushing in?
It's common sense... everyone rushing out + everyone rushing in at the same time = no one gets anywhere.

Afterall, its no point pointing fingers at the same society we are all a part of, and feeling ashamed by compatriots behaviour when many of us are made complicit by our silence.
We all rant and that's good because it gives us an outlet to release our frustration but the righteous indignation is only constructive if we work to improve the graciousness of our society as a WHOLE. Can we be both gracious and assertive in our beliefs to what makes this place a better place?
We all became who we are through opportunities to learn, through our family, friends, environments. Somehow, somewhere down the road - these people either were not given these opportunities or missed the lessons. Teach them dont just bitch about them.

The SO and I often pondered on your 2nd para. We came to the conclusion that no, such ugly behaviour (and not just in supermarkets) will not die out, coz just look at the behaviour of these parents, and what they're teaching their kids or not teaching them (when they should). We don't think it will die out even in the next 3 generations. It might even get worse as this whole place gets even more populated, and there is the other foreign-flavoured kinds of obnoxious behaviour.Originally posted by Kuali Baba:Reading about such obnoxious behaviour and experiencing it myself makes my blood boil. Sometimes I hear someone tell others off loudly on the trains for not giving way, and then realise that was me. It's enough to make me seriously consider emmigrating.
