Clearing away the Detritus of Life ....

Just something to share ....
I just started clearing up my room and wrapping up my life over here today ...
it's amazing how much baggage one can accumulate over the course of one's life ....
I threw out four trash bags of stuff today ... each one a piece of my personal history ... from a bunch of obiang ocean pacific polo Tees I bought with my very first temp job paycheck 11 years ago, to knick knacks from long ago dearlings that i've kept for sentimental reasons, to the collection of papers and essays and term tests with A grades on them, to my collection of notes which I know I'll never ever flip through again, not with google, to a CD full of cellphone pics with girls whose names I cannot recall .... to favoured tattered Tees and shorts dating from my preteens ... to momentos and trinkets from long past trips .....
I realized something today ... that it's important to let go .... to live free ... no wonder I feel so burdened by life sometimes ... because all these while, I have been dragging along through life ... the baggages of my past ...
... I just realized that I'm still way too young to start looking back at my past ... that I had to look forward, not back ....
I was so "siao1 xa3" today ... I did not even look back at the dumpster after I threw out all four trash bags of my personal history ..... perhaps sometimes, to cleanse the soul, you need to excise certain pieces of it .....
my foot steps have became lighter since ..............
I look forwards to coming back and meeting all you guys .....

I sort of having a little bit similar suituation as u. Now clearing the stuff in boise apartment and prepare to move to chicago. Oh well, altot the room seems quite empty, but it has alot of things that hook my memories....working with alot of colleagues that is from different country, stay late at nite just to finish watching a TV show on the internet, the fridge, the beer, the bbq, the balcony and the curry.....all brings up the memory that I had in the past 1 yr. Its strange that I miss things here altot previously I always wished to go back home....I know I will miss the friends and colleague here but I have no choice but to say bid farewell.

There are some stuff which upon a touch, you can and will recall how you felt, how you were, when you had them at that age, at that time...
These are the stuff, if u had threw out, you will regret in the years to come...

When I cleaned up my room. As in really cleaned it. Every nook and cranny. Every piece lying around. I cleared at least 6 bags. Books, papers, letters, receipts, photos, pamphlets, namecards, anything, everything. You name it.
Everything became nostalgic. I'd take a few moments to stop and think back. Remembering the good (or bad) ol' days. I'm still kinda young now... But to think so much has happened in the past few years or more... It's kinda interesting, you learn, you change. -

There is a story about this man who had a canoe that he used to cross a river. However, he still hung onto the heavy canoe after he cross the river as he believe that the canoe is good and useful. And so he carry this heavy canoe wherever he goes and one day, he discover that he seldom needs it. He is just too greedy and making life miserable for himself. -

i can carry all that i own in 3 well packed luggages... once i leave a place, i dun keep too many things i got from that country. my primary and sec school year books are all gone. and i know that by the time i leave uni, my high school year books will gone too. i dunno. i dont like to keep things. whatever is in my head now, if it's worth remembering, i'll remember it for as long as i need to. or so i like to think.........maybe if one has to live out of one luggage for 2 months quite often, u learn to not keep too many things...
any chance of u going back to canada then for say...a vacation...??
