Wah you see my mother very up. Kam siah hor. No lah, she gets an hourly pay to be a short order cook at the US base in Sembawang. Looks like my mother also cannot escape being connected to the US Navy.Originally posted by choco B:What, professional? Home-based caterer?
My mother-in-law did just that. She gave up her supervisor job with an insurance company to do what she was interested in. She became a masseuse. Had to take a 6-month course, get certified and all that. Then she did up the little cottage on her property and turned that into her "office". She says she's not making the kind of money she used to make but she's happy.Originally posted by choco B:It depends.
For Wanda's case if she wants to take up a course in health care, where there may be bonds with hospitals and subsidies and such, maybe there is a cut off age for joining such programs.
the other day, a friend of mine is telling me about his mid-career switch to teaching .......Originally posted by choco B:It depends.

That's my mother. *beams* She is a very good sport and *touch wood* healthy. When she visited us 5 years ago, she played Twister with my kids. Hilarious!! 65 year old woman playing Twister. I guess she has good genes and her great disposition helps too. She's flown to visit my family and my sister's family many many times. She's about to make another trip to CA soon. My sister's preggars with her 3rd child.Originally posted by choco B:I'm impressed leh, to be re-employed at 70 is not easy feat... but your mom must really be healthy and mobile too! What's her secret?
