from what i know the actual disposable income is abotu the same here and overseas excluding the cpf contribution.
so i guess its about the same if you exclude the super taxed items like alcohol and cigs -

Was wondering about this cos I was talking to an auntie of mine over breakfast this morning ... this auntie works accounts for companies and help prepare tax filings for people in singapore as well ... when i showed her my canadian tax filings she nearly had a heart attack ....
it's something I never asked my parents before ... but my auntie says that after deductions and rebates, many people she knows doesn't even pay taxes in Singapore, or pay only pay a couple or three Ks at the most on an average income ....
how true is that ? ...

Everytime I come across an unemployed bum, I wanna kick their a$$ darn bad because one of the reasons why we're paying taxes through our nose till we bleed is to support these )(*@(#*&*(!!! who'd rather lounge around at home getting drugged or drunk or both, than to step out of their homes to go to work.
Or to support single women who earn their keep by popping out babies and then using the govt's allowance to buy drugs or booze and not taking good care of their babies. The number of times I've seen babies / toddlers swathed in filthy and tattered, stinky, unwashed clothes with old old OLD stains on them with dirty, unshowered druggie parents is atrocious!! All those occasions I wanted to report these people but didn't know how and where. I was soooo tempted to do so when I spotted this filthy, foul-smelling bearded old man with a little boy who looks like he's just 4 years old, but dressed in filthy clothes with get this... DRIED-UP FAECES on his pants!!!! I admit one of the thoughts that crossed my mind was - Pedophile Alert??

It's true. Taxes that we pay in Singapore are used pretty wisely. Sometimes, when I walk home in the dark after an evening shift, I wonder - very dimly-lit side streets, uneven and cracked sidewalks, police who may not respond in a timely manner and who are probably so used to crime they might not really respond in an assuring manner to me, druggies and drunks who cross my path ever so often, sometimes with nary a soul in sight . . . WHERE do the taxes go to? Are they really being used well?
At least in Singapore, I can walk home after an evening shift feeling safe and all streets, including side streets and deserted roads, are extremely well-lit.
Pay your Singapore taxes happily, people!

I'm not sure about now because I believe there is quite a lot of changes in Perth as well. We visited a family friend who migrated to Perth with his family about 13 years or so ago. They are now Australian citizens.
He said that property prices had been increasing steadily, and esp recently, the increase has been pretty high.
He had the foresight to buy properties when it was much cheaper. He has made tons of money selling them.
A few years ago, it was awesome for Singaporeans to come here to Australia but these days, with the sky-rocketing property prices and higher cost of living, you'd really have to think twice. -

MPB is still thinking on if he should stay on or move overseas when his contract ends. I think he has another yr or 2

I talked to my suppliers from Brazil today
He advised on the average the income tax rate is around 35% to the 'thieves' because he does not know where his tax money goes too and there is no such thing as education fund or health care in Brazil >.<" -
At least our income tax seems to be put to good use compare to other countries. Always building new shopping mall or road....

At least it's not like here in the States, where the govt takes your money first and you get a refund later. IF you do the math right, the govt won't take money from you at all. Sometimes you have to pay the govt because you underestimated figures. I think MG was one of those. MG, April is almost upon us again.
