Was wondering about this cos I was talking to an auntie of mine over breakfast this morning ... this auntie works accounts for companies and help prepare tax filings for people in singapore as well ... when i showed her my canadian tax filings she nearly had a heart attack ....
it's something I never asked my parents before ... but my auntie says that after deductions and rebates, many people she knows doesn't even pay taxes in Singapore, or pay only pay a couple or three Ks at the most on an average income ....
how true is that ? ...
I know it's a sensitive topic lah ... but just hint hint here and there ...

Well, Australia taxes you on the interest you have earned from your bank savings accounts too!Originally posted by the Bear:shares pay dividends..
those are from profits made after tax paid..
so if they tax you for your dividends, they're taxing you twice.. so they have to refund that money they tax you for those dividends..
It's true. Taxes that we pay in Singapore are used pretty wisely. Infrastructure is always being maintained well and upgraded, public services is so much better compared to many other countries in the world.Originally posted by InnoHippo:if we dont have to do planning for unemployment, critical illness and retirement, SG is No. 1
Remember how mom dragged me to Perth in May? We visited a family friend who migrated to Perth with his family about 13 years or so ago. They are now Australian citizens.Originally posted by elindra:Hmmm....I don't recall it being that bad in Perth before but then Perth back then was a sleepy place
I'm not sure about now because I believe there is quite a lot of changes in Perth as well.

He said that property prices had been increasing steadily, and esp recently, the increase has been pretty high.
He had the foresight to buy properties when it was much cheaper. He has made tons of money selling them.
A few years ago, it was awesome for Singaporeans to come here to Australia but these days, with the sky-rocketing property prices and higher cost of living, you'd really have to think twice.

Coz of his new course they just extended his contract
I only know if it is the Middle East, I'm to stay put in Singapore
But there's sod-all to do over there in your free time at the moment, according to the people I was at a workshop with - little else other than sand and construction sites to look at.Originally posted by Rhonda:I think he can end up earning a lotta lotta $$ if he goes there.
