My Trip to India - Colour &

Finally after the flight delay of 3 1/2 hours from Singapore to Delhi (5 hr 20min), and another 3 1/2 hours flight delay from Delhi to Varanasi (45min journey), our journey begins.

Varanasi is a City located in the Uttar Pradesh. This is the point where the 2 great rivers Yamuna and Ganga from the Himalayan from the North merge at Allahbabad and turn eastward at Varanasi before flowing into the Sea of Bengal. By then the great River would have travelled a total distance of 2,600km.
The Hindus thus considered Varanasi a holy city and millions of Hindus will make it a point to bathed once in their lifetime or even creamated in the River

The picture on the left is Lord Shiva and the Lady on the right is Mother Ganga. Note the building behind. There are plenty of these Ghat along the bank of the River built by Kings and Rajah of the past.

As this was winter, the number of devotees dwindled. we were told that otherwise we will have to squeeze through the mountains and seas of people just to get to the river. There are plenty of activities along the river such as laundry work (Dorby Ghat sounds firmilar?). According to our group, the river smelt of death

yes.yes..the people at the rural places are simple, warm and nice...

Indian "teh tarik" tea stalls. These stalls are pack with local drinking them. It has a strong taste of masala and hot boiling milk.
