NOT the Ice Cold Beer Report

Many apologies to EarlNeo and anyone else who turned up at Ice Cold Beer tonight. We were there initially, for all of 30 minutes; we left because 1) it was too noisy, 2) the drinks weren't good, and 3) they wanted to expel Yours Truly for being younger than 25. We went to Durty Nelly's at Marina Square instead - it's a sister outlet of Muddy's.

av and I decided to try something different tonight - we had an Irish Car Bomb with our Guinness, i.e. a pint with a shot of Bailey's and Irish whiskey. The Bailey's curdled into something unappetising when mixed with the stout.
the Bear says that the draft at Muddy's tastes better. It's probably down to the turnover.
The ladies had a glass of Governor's Smile each which we didn't take pictures of. -
How did they know you're under 25? While purchasing drinks?

Pub grub:
Mussels in beer sauce (which were bigger and better than those at The Mussel Guys)
Mustard chicken sandwich
Cheesy mushroom melba toasties
Lamb chops with minted gravy - these were less salty than those available at Muddy's
Irish stew - a darker, thicker but similar-tasting version
Not photographed: Potato wedges with chilli crab dip - the sauce had less crabmeat in it, though it's still real crab; av's Irish coffee; and lemon-lime bitters. -

When I first got there, I found a table downstairs and waited for the others. Then a waitress asked if I was 25. I told them I wasn't but I was waiting for 4 friends who were at least 25 - she left to "check with her supervisor" and but returned to tell me that they couldn't make a concession.
While waiting outside, I was told that av and SevenEleven were already upstairs. I went upstairs through the backdoor and met them. As I was recounting my story to them, another waitress must have overheard. When I turned to look at the drinks that were available, she asked if I was 25. I told her, "I'm definitely 25."
Neither of them asked for my ID. -
I'm back too ....
stopped by rail mall on the way home to tah bao prata and bak chor mee ....
I'm still keeping up with the jogging regime though .... -
lucky i never go.. otherwise i have to carry all my staff and travel all over the place

i see you guys still eating after i left. got to clear my backlog so had to leave early (hey it's already past 10pm). good to see the legendary lettuceman

Btw I just found out that MPB stopped drinking beer and have been quaffing Guinness when he goes out drinking with his friends
I told him he should go to MM then -
Btw I didn't think the lamb chops in MM were very salty leh?
I always thought MM lamb chops are flavored just right -

the age limit's rubbish lah ... I've been hanging out there since I could legally drink ...
just ask to see the manager ... they used to have really snotty waitresses there, girls who only like to serve ang mohs .... but the old faces are no longer around ....
my friend picked up a waitress there once ... after things fell apart we avoided the place for more than a year ...
