  now that HD-DVD is dead, time to convert to Blu-Ray...

  so would like a PS3 (it plays Blu-Ray DVDs) and a HD-ready TV for the room

  Actually, if you had an HD-ready TV and a non-HD-ready one side by side, switched on for comparison, I'm sure you'll notice the difference.  But in a home environment, where you never place TV's side-by-side anyways, you wouldn't really know the difference at all.  I think it's an ostentatious product designed to cater to people who wanna catch up with the Joneses or techie folks who wanna own the latest gadgets.
