Sigh they represent my awakening... like ... suddenly realising Santa was not real u know.
I remember one day when I was 9 or 10, my parents found my sobbing in my room. And they were shocked and ask me why... and I cried and ask them why I can't go to all these places in the book, why am I just stuck here, why is there no magic.... why why why
I'm glad...well that since then, I have found the real life can be just as fascinating.
actually they were clueless and i remember, torn between concern and amusement. hahahaOriginally posted by jetta:Aw... that was such a bittersweet moment for your parents.

I'm reading fluff. Again. An Aussie novel called Wife for Hire. This is my first Aussie author and she uses lots of Aussie slang and words which I've never heard of. Words like doona (I'm thinking blanket? Comforter?) and many others. (Ooh!! Fodder for new thread!)

By Dianne Blacklock, huh? I came across that book of hers last year at the Uni library; she writes quite well!
Doona = quilt.
So far so good.
When I'm done with Snow Flower.... I'm going to read this one which I've already bought.
dp
I'm reading
"Till morining comes" by Han Suyin ...
a love story between a chinese doctor and an american journalist in china's turbulent years, from the WWII years to the turmoil of the cultural revolution ....
maybe some would be more familiar with her political writings in mandarin from the 50s and 60s ...
she's one of the very rare breed of truly bilingual writers ... slightly ironic cos she's actually eurasian .....
I love her books ... they are all classic
i like reading fluff.. especially Banana Yoshimoto's books..
btw.. go look up Book Buddies and add your reviews when you're done reading
i am reading Beat Stress Together.....by Wayne and Mary
Newspapers, Time Magazines, and my textbooks.
