I'm sure soon hock can be breed .... they are quite tolerant of dirty water ... i remember catching them at jurong lake in my teens ....Originally posted by viciouskitty74:talk about fish.
we had 2 really big shoon hock when we were in Changrai.
Papa says shoon hock is always caught wild in river/pond water. they cannot be ranched or breed in captivity.
but i distinctly remembers a time at a fish farm off the coast of Singapore that has these 2 really big shoon hock....they were there as a show off thing cos they are now so huge, they most likely have acquired englightenment and is some kinda of diety.
I was walking at the wooden planks when suddenly 2 really huge blue disc broke water and scared me silly that I trip on my step back.
Soon Hock is like kinda expensive? $40 for 100gm? Papa was telling me that we are eating easily a $1000/- worth of soonhock fish that day in Changrai.
It's a delicacy for chinese tooOriginally posted by viciouskitty74:Another question.
Is that Pasir Ris Pond still in operation?
I remember that you only have to pay $10 for them to fish out a fish from the pond and you pay another $10 to the nearby kiosk who will cook the fish immediately for you.
And because the fish is so fresh, you can eat the stomach and it still taste sweet.
And another thing, is there anyway to learn how to eat fish stomach? Its kinda a delicacy for thais but I dont recognise the contents and didnt dare to touch it.
the pasir ris pond is a pathetic scam ... it's always the same ... a new operator takes over and he stocks in loads of big fish, after a while he starts skimping and cutting corners, the fishes become smaller and scarcer .... the $10 sure catch pond had only baby sea bass in it, and the water's so muddy I'd hesitate to eat the stomach or even the meat ....Originally posted by viciouskitty74:Another question.

The fish here are really big size fish, they only coat the fish in salt and BBQ/baked the fish on the grill.
To eat it, you just need to remove the salt crusted skin and eat the flesh and whatever insides.
these are times, where i regret i didnt pay attention to my studies or make objections when the school decides that art class students dont need to take biology.Originally posted by Fatum:I'm sure soon hock can be breed .... they are quite tolerant of dirty water ... i remember catching them at jurong lake in my teens ....

So the both of us decided to have a 'fine' system to kick the habit
It's only been 2 days and there is like 8 bucks in the tin already
$1 for 1 'F' word used
MPB paid the majority
