Good evening! And why not?
Originally posted by soleachip:Good evening! And why not?
i dunno.
i did this shoot for someone and i felt the photos were crap.
then he got someone else to do it and the results were much better!
but deep down inside, i don't really like to take photos of women. unless they don't mind looking silly.
elegance, romance is definitely out of my league.
i take photos of guys and after i process it, i have the "ahhh... looks good" feeling...
i take photos of women and i when i see the preview on my camera, i go "what the hell do i have to do to make them look better?"
just get better looking subjects ? ....

I think it's essential and a good thing to be critical of your own photos!
You felt they weren't up to your standards but did he like it anyway? Sometimes it's not necessary for pictures of women to exude class and elegance so depends on the nature of the shoot.
Just my 2 cents worth.

lol...
well the previous shoot, i had a pretty bad location... rasa sentosa, not in the hotel room somemore.
didn't have much time either, so it was pretty rushed.
as much as i want to use these as excuses... i just can't help blaming myself for the way the photos turned out.
maybe that's why he went to find someone else
but deep down i wanna shoot my way... the crazy way and hopefully it'll be appreciated and rewarded.
now its due to budget constraints, and good thing my friend's upcoming wedding is a good platform for me to start on.
still, hopefully i'll get jobs for shooting weird shots.

if he liked it, he wouldn't find someone else would he?
the girls were mei-meis and the evening gown shoot was supposed to have some class and elegance.
rasa sentosa is as resort-looking as it can get.
oh well, i screwed it up. i still think my guy shots turn out better.
maybe this IS a sign for me to go USA to learn

Grooms who don't take care of their skin before their weddings are the worst for me. This guy broke out in hives and it took me 2 weeks to deliver
i wanna do shots like these, but the market isn't so open to... art.

i like shooting guys with scars and stuff on their skin... i love the character it shows.

photoshopping photoshopped tweaked pics?
did he turn out looking like Woffles Wu?

Everybody screws up from time to time. That's the thing with limited budget. Sometimes it's just not enough to produce quality shots.

Yeah I see tonnes of such creativity in ordinary platforms like Flickr photos and they are mainly taken by hobbyists and professionals based in Europe. Some of the best are even self portraits or street photographs taken with compact cameras!
i'm just so looking forward to my friend's shoot.
and i dun have to come out a cent for the props and makeup
best part is that she's got so many ideas for her photos, its gonna be much easier for me.
hoping baseline's business will be stable enough so we can collaborate some projects where we'll have to fund the shoot ourselves, but do it just for art.

Sometimes it's disappointing when they are not photogenic. Spoils the mood for me.
IMHO, he turned out looking a little gay but I couldn't possibly give him hive filled photos! Wouldn't forgive myself for that. What if you were in his shoes? Would you rather they be fixed or not?

doesn't really matter here when people are not even open to it.
everyone is following some old school concept which i find it hard to grasp at all.
the closest thing to freedom and an idea was the shot i have of base.
we were looking at it and we agreed that it would work with more people at the playground...

Is that considered styling and art department?
And set up your own exhibition!

i think he wouldn't even be taking regular wedding photos
and men's photos don't have to be tweaked really, they look rugged with the rough skin.
smoothening makes them look gay.

I think that's subjective. Locals are probably more conservative and limited by the standards they believe has been set in stone. But hey at least you're lucky because you get to do it every single day!

kinda, baseline will be the art director, i'll be taking the photos.
we'll discuss the concept and stuff.
and yep, when its done... we would put it up as an exhibition.
sometimes i wonder why half my foot is in the "money earning" world, worrying about satisfying customers when what i really want to do is art.

or they'll turn out looking like asian boy band singers ...
