  yaahhh...indeed u need a tour guide qualifications...but....there are also OTHER tour-guide services that you may offer.

   

  i was surfing for tour forums and always found that backpackers/free-and-easy couples who visit "non-english speaking countries" would very much need to engage a local guide to show them around. 

   

  I am sure that these guides are not "qualified", but they provide uptmost care to their customers/vistors, so good that the words spread of their good repo.  Instead of engaging tour agency for package tours, people actually pre-book them in advance.

   

  It's good money, u are your own boss. 

  It's actually a challenging job.....it's like you are a driver, you are also their "nanny".. and coupled with good knowledge of the place/culture/people, good customer care, you are the local (or only local) friend which they (the visitors) can rely on and maybe very attached to u especially when they are now on a foreign land which English is not commonly used.

   

   

  My 2cents worth of advise lor.

  I handled artists from overseas...i know what they need what they want.

  I also love travelling and when i travel to more remote places when transportation and language are the main barriers, the local guide is my "pillar"..

  can consider...but singapore is not the place to do it..

  the infrastructure here is too good and we speak English..

   

  u have the advantage, u speak good english and u speak thai...

  go to thailand and find your dreams...

  i watched persuasion...reminds of what happened to me and my ex...the persuasion/the separation when i was young.

   

  It did not turn out the happy ending like the show cos we really did gone our separate ways, for our own good.

  build up a portfolio while u are there...do a blog thingy...

  well, we can be the fake tourists (or u sponsor us there)..

  go to the travel forum, logged in and say how good the holidays been, and how good u are to show us around..so reliable...da da. da..

  i get my ang moh friends to write too...

  then pple see the credits...and start contacting u ....

  and so forth....

   

  i no need be agent lah.. well, i can refer customer to you if i come across pple going to your region lah..:)

  not really leh....if for example...if i am in thailand, and i got good friends to come to my country and wantto visit the temples at remote areas...and i am not free to accompany them (or i dun want to bring them around).  the best way is to engage a reliable guy who speak english and knows his way around and can communicate in thai...."entertain" them a bit, bring them to eat...

   

  I would want a bit more cultured rather too local people cos my angmoh friend may find more comfy with a person who speak proper english...impression..ah-tas..

   

  and if i can do that, I should be VERY RICH AND CAN AFFORD TO PAY THE GUIDE GOOD MONEY TO SHOW MY FRIENDS AROUND LIAO ...! (sorry for the bold words, i am day-dreaming).

  my dad... every year around this time.. he'll come and ask how to send e-CNY cards..

  every year, i'll teach him to use google or yahoo to search out a site...

  every year, he'll take an hour before failing dismally..

  every year, he'll then come to my room again and demand why "last year can.. this year cannot"

  every year, i'll go find the same site for him (egreetingcard.com or something like that)
