I finally managed to find my adapter for my Micro SD card in my mobile phone, so I can share a few of the photos taken using my mobile when I was out and about in Melbourne. (I hope you guys aren't sick of my photos already!) Unfortunately, a few of the shots reminds me of Fireman, cause they were taken en route to his apartment in Southbank. But oh well, I have the happy memories, I discard the rest of the undesirables.
The famous Southbank precinct.
Somehow, this photo appears to have a lot of ... 'atmosphere' to it. I'm looking up at the church spire as the sky turns cloudy...
A Butcher in South Yarra Market.
Melbourne at night, viewed from a 28th Storey apartment opposite Crown Casino. You can spot the Melbourne Aquarium too!
Views from another high-rise apartment in Southbank. The body of water at the far end is Port Philip Bay, I think!
The famous Flinder's Street Station, and the road just outside it, at night.
A patient in my hospital was found praying in his wheelchair in the hospital's chapel. A very moving photo...
Fireworks over Southbank, as viewed from a window in my ward!
Not bad, hor? Considering these photos were all taken using a mobile phone!
And one last one... considered ordinary to you guys, but a real treat to me!
This photo is taken from one of the hospital's wards. I can see my block if I squint!
Over here, the govt flats are for low-income families and in certain areas, never venture anywhere near the blocks because there are lots of delinquents, drug addicts, etc around the area. I've encountered drug addicts and drunks around that area before.
Very nice images. Thanks for sharing!
Melbourne looks like a very pretty city with character. Just out of curiosity, what percentage of its population is of Asian descent?
Thank you Rhonda! Nice pics. Enjoyed viewing each and every shot.

Hmm... very interesting question indeed! Let's see... here's some info I managed to find. Bear in mind that this was compiled in 2001(?) and it's only for Melbourne City. You'll find the stats very interesting!
Country of Birth No. %
Australia 24,303 47.9
Malaysia 2,356 4.6
Indonesia 2,176 4.3
England 1,628 3.2
New Zealand 1,213 2.4
China 1,163 2.3
Singapore 1,146 2.3
Hong Kong 1,063 2.1
Viet Nam 751 1.5
More statistics can be found here : City-Suburb Profile
Also, if you're still hungry for more info, here's more... and they are recent too :

Whenever I enter Melbourne City, I get astounded by the number of Koreans around me. I can hear snippets of their conversation everywhere!! Korean shops, beauty salons, etc are also sprouting up in the city like mushrooms! I'm not complaining!
I hear a lot of Singaporeans and Malaysians talking around me too. You can distinguish the students from Singapore by their show-off talk, and by their pretty good English with a neither-here-nor-there accent. Occasionally, they break into Singlish which confirms the suspicions!
I'm happy here that there are so many Asians around. Its somehow, a comforting thought. It makes it much easier to find the food, movies, music, etc that satisfies me too. Look at my diet alone - Roast one day followed by Singapore Noodles the next, then Pizza, then Japanese Don, then Korean Bibimbap, then Vietnamese Pho... very interesting!

Thank you!! I was a bit reluctant cause I've been flooding the forums with photos recently!
I was pretty impressed at how well they turned out, considering they were from a mobile phone. It really comes in handy... walk past something interesting, whip it out and snap!
I think they welcome your flood of photos considering I have been flooding them with my aquarium pics
the food pic looks good

The Malaysian doc who examined me on Monday actually told me that the Asian food in Melbourne is good compared to Sydney and the rest of Australia. I'm quite lucky! I can get the food I love quite easily.
I just visited the Laksa Me! restaurant owned by a Malaysian chef today. If you ask me, it's a lot of hype, but the food was only so-so. Quite a disappointment, given all the reviews.
Next on the list, a Japanese restaurant I passed by yesterday that was mentioned by fymk, and a Korean restaurant that was recommended by a Korean grocery shop owner.
