Not a spoof of Rhonda's thread. Wanted to post this earlier.
Was flying around my house last night. Caught it cause it was irritating the hell out of me.
I thought it was a bee or hornet at first. Till I caught it. It had some worm-like-moving stinger.
Saw another ant like creature too. 5 times bigger than an average ant. It had a green head, green-to-red thorax, and red the rest of the body. And it was under attack by other mini red ants. Freaky.
That's one of the bee species, I believe...
But a sac that big? It moves like a worm, like a life on it's own too. D:
Hmm.. if this "fly" got into a battle with Rhonda's spider, I wonder who would win.

Houses don't have to be dirty to have insects. Also. It wouldn't be as filthy as your dirty mind.

Don't want!!! Keep the insects to the documentaries on TV can already!!
Bear has given me nightmares with his mention of Redbacks coming into my home!! Those spiders are poisonous!!! Already, when I walk to the back to hang my laundry on the clotheslines, I watch out for snakes on the ground. I know it's an urban dwelling but... you just never know!!
Sorry Keii can't help you here
Fishes and Amphibians you can ask me
But insects I'm really clueless
Maybe Bear can help
Flies don't have stings. Looks more like a wasp to me.......
But Wasps have reaaaaally thin thorax's or body's... And stings are bigger, in proportion. But not as big as this. :o
Looks like a bee.
It looks like a carpenter bee. And the ant could be one of the soldiers of the colony of another species.
Looks delicious
Wah! Here's a list of comparison between wasps and bees.
I looked at the photo and thought it might be a wasp... but not so sure...
It's thorax is uncharacteristically elongated! I hope it's not a Queen!
There was a wasp that built a tiny nest on the window grille of my parents' place. One day, when I was home alone, I saw a fat, green nymph wriggling its way out of the dried-mud hive!! I grabbed some stick and poked the hive, and the top crumbled to expose about six to eight other fat and wriggly green nymphs!!! I felt goose pimples all over and let out a scream! Then ran to the living room to call a guy friend and cried to him about the horrible icky green monsters coming out of the hive!!!
That was when I was in Secondary school. That guy's still one of my good buddies!
But but... 4 wings? Ant-like head? Thick first segmented leg, thin throughout?
Could be from the bee family. But... Not any of those in that link. :o
I still think it's a carpenter bee, looking at the jaws and it's overall size. Most flying insects have four wings, and some flies have a much-reduced second pair. I stand corrected however.
Carpenter Bees, I know for sure, they're fat. :P
And wiki just proved it. :P
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carpenter_bee
I'm really afraid it'll breed somewhere around my area or neighbourhood. Until I know it's a harmless species. We had a mosquito problem around here years back. And some random bee colony immigration thing. :o
Erm sorry to TS for hijacking this thread but i need some identification on an ant species.
Lately, there are really alot of ants in my house and they somehow have white and maybe "hairy" legs...
I googled it and there's a possiblity that those ants are white-footed ants. has anyone encounter such ants before? If so, anyone has any way to get rid of them? They seem to be attracted to almost any food on the table.
Sorry i don't have any pictures because they are too small.

Did you check to see the insect's living conditions, habits etc etc? It could be termites you know. :P
Thanks for replying but i aint sure how to check their living conditions and habits... any tips? I am sure there isn't any infested wood... yet...
