We were discussing the no. of pairs of jeans we own in another thread when this topic about branded goods cropped up. Whilst there are those who just love branded items, there are others who think that they are just a waste of money.
So, do you spend on branded fashion? We're referring to stuff like clothing, accessories (ie. shoes, handbags, watches, jewellery), skincare, perfume and cosmetics, stuff related to the fashion industry. Do you insist on buying only certain branded goods for some items? What's the maximum amount you've ever spent on any one item?
Giordano counted as branded or not?
Panda brand also brand wor *heeehee*
I don't bother much with brands much for stuff like clothes, accessories etc I mean wear a while then sian liao ma.
Err but besides fashion goods.....
Hmm stuff like electronic appliances - i am conscious about the brand though need to moderate lah. so expensive.
the one thing I do spend on branded things are err trekking equipment like bagpacks, waterproof bags, trek pants, trekking shoes.
Cos VERY SIAN if thing like this spoil halfway in a trip so err reliable brand very important.

We're talking about fashion goods here leh! High-end brand name fashion goods.
Just also asking,
do you buy branded middle range to high end cosmetic products?
When I was in the corporate world, I used to get stuff from my mom. She'd buy branded handbags, and when she got tired of them, or when she ended up with one too many in her collection, she'll hand a few over to me! Happiness!! Sometimes, when we went shopping, she'd buy one for me, because she knows I'll like it, and that I won't spend $$ on it.
Clothes too, esp jackets for the workplace. She'll get tired of it, and I end up inheriting it!
Too bad we don't share the same size for shoes and rings. Darnit!
I think the most expensive single item of clothing I've ever spent on is this skirt from France and it cost S$190 at Isetan. That's not very expensive too, so I guess you can tell what I think about branded fashion goods!
Since coming over, I've only bought clothes from K-mart and Target or mid-range boutiques, never from the high-end ones. Don't think I ever will, not unless the piece is a die-die must have one. I think I shall soon invest in good-quality winter jackets and trench coats because they tend to last longer.
im not shy to admit..i splurge on branded apparel and accessories...sometimes skincare too It helps having a cousin who lives a stone's throw from Saks..

Cosmetics, nope. I used to use Lancóme and Estee Lauder's eyeshadows and Christian Dior / Shiseido / Lancóme / YSL lipsticks but you know what, I feel that they aren't really 'better' than brands like Maybelline or L'oreal! Now, for lipsticks, I use Avon and Maybelline. Avon has a range that I absolutely love and it's so much cheaper too!
This colleague of mine says that she has tried all brands of eyeliners, from the supermarket brands like Maybelline and Rimmel, to the high-end ones like Christian Dior, Bobbi Brown, and YSL and she found to her surprise, that the Avon one works best for her and I was stumped!
Anyways, for liquid eyeliners, I love L'oreal's - stays on, doesn't smudge, and easy to apply. It's not expensive either. What more can a girl ask for?
Recently, I tried Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse and I'm now a fan of it! I've spent quite a fair bit trying out all manner of foundation but they end up being the wrong shade, the wrong texture, too greasy, too dry, etc. That Maybelline's Mousse passed the test!
Hmm... think if I ever want to splurge on branded watches and handbags, I'd go for Guess. I kinda like their stuff.

How about skin care? Facial cleansers, toners, moisturizers, masks, creams, etc?
i swear by La Mer!
La Mer, though quite ex, lasts quite long though..around 6-8mths...sometimes i substitute with other brands like Lab Series, Kiehls or John Varvatos..Varvatos is not bad especially the eye serum
I step into Rolex authorised dealers and Gucci in Paragon once every month to acquire new stuffs.
I'll prefer quality compared to the brand of a particular stuff. However, it seems to me that quality of most stuffs comes with a hefty price tag.
Err I only go for branded bags and suits
It's more for image than anything else when you meet clients
I only like those exclusive fragrances like Serge Lutens, Creed, L'artisans, CdG...
They are expensive but they have high selling power (especially if you manage to get the limited edition). Serge Lutens 'Chergui' (sold out) originally costs only S$160/US120 but if you look through eBay, the winning price is usually more than US$120. Sometimes it can reach US$169.99. I managed to get Creed at very cheap price though.
And also those who are holding Shiseido's Nombre Noir, please give it to me.
A miniature of this alone (15 ml) cost US$350.

Ever since I read in a US magazine, Real Simple, that facial cleansers don't stay on your skin long enough to do any magic anyways so any ol' brand will do, I switched to cheap supermarket brands like Johnson's and Johnson's and Dove. I have free tubes of face wash gels from Avon and a few other unopened tubes from L'oreal, so don't think I need to buy any face wash for a long time yet!
Toners... skip. Used to use toners, but find, not much of a difference. Think I should dig out that mag and see what that article says about toners again...
Moisturizers, what I use depends on the season. I use stronger, richer stuff in Autumn and Winter and use the lighter, UV stuff in Summer. On my shelf, I have Olay, Avon, L'oreal, and Nivea. Nothing that will break my bank!
What about yourself?
I have SKII, Clarins, Kose, Dr Secret, Estee Lauder, H2O stuff and errr this Korean brand ....I forgot the brand....
MPB uses Clarins and that Korean brand too
For body moisturizers, I used to use 50 bucks a tube stuff and stuff that cost more but then these days I just use Olive oil when I sleep and it works like magic and cost a fraction. Hahaha
I don't use body moisturizers during the day though I have a tube of Nivea handcream in the office

I use whatever my mum buys. I'm just surveying the female population... Kinda hard to understand why some would splurge so much

Korean brand, you mean The Face Shop?
Originally posted by eagle:Korean brand, you mean The Face Shop?
Nope. It's a new player in the market
I tried it coz sometime back Citibank had this promotion where you can buy to try it's products. It was a 1 for 1 promotion which I couldn't resist :P
It's products are pretty good I would say and I don't mind buying it again. MPB loves their face moisturizer
elindra, are you still using L'Occitane's Cherry Blossom perfume? I got sick of waiting for it here cause the salesperson says Singapore usually snatches up the bulk of it before sending it onward to Australia. So the salesperson suggested that I use the room spray as a perfume instead, because she does that herself. The alcohol content is higher, but the volume is greater too and it comes with a nice atomiser pump.
So I did just that! Bo Hee Har Ah Hoh! (No fish, prawns also can-do!)
I'm tempted to try their skincare products too!
