Just curious. I know some families find it difficult to eat a meal without rice.
It is not a staple for us. We can get by easily without rice.
1kg of rice can last us over a year!
We eat more bread, noodles and potatoes.
Even for my parents, rice goes a long way for them.
Of course I do enjoy my rice dishes such as baked rice, chicken rice, duck rice etc, but at home, I think my rice cooker is collecting a lot of dust -_-"
we seldom cook at home..
me oso dun relli like to eat rice... prefer noodles, pasta....
My parents can't live without rice.
And I don't get it. I keep trying to get them to look at alternatives but they always give me the bull-shit that a meal is not a meal without rice.

Ya. We don't really like to eat rice and prefer to eat noodles and pasta
Even if we cook like typical Chinese dishes at home, we don't cook rice to go with them.
The rice at home is usually used to cook porridge or baked rice
I'm flexible when it comes to the starchy stuff, and when we have dinner at home, (brown) rice appears most frequently, followed by bread, pasta/noodles and potatoes.

Looks like your mum is a health freak like mine
When I go home for dinner, rice is like a mixture of white rice, brown rice and other grains.
I'm not even sure if I can call it rice... It's more like a mixed grain dish :P
For breads, we like mixed grain or wholemeal breads :)
I like brown rice! It's tough, but it has a nice flavour.
Time to eat my rice!
