Japan? it's neighbours are slowly catching up, esp Korea... and actually esp the automobile ind, it's alrdy been outsourced to PRC, India & Thailand
of course, cost is rising everywhere ... but many of these factors can be controlled ... take rising land and rental costs for example ... know why it's rising so fast ? ... cos big foreign consortiums and private buyers are able to enter the market at will, inflating prices ... and now the goverment comes up with this hare-brained "built-to-order" flats idea and now we have HDB flats that costs 3/4 of a million ....
the simplistic argument would be to say, we have to suck it up, cos economics say that it's there's nothing to be done .... for of course we can't raise wages cos the costs are beyond our control ...
but we forget that the public transport monopolices posts a profit year after year, while they adjust fares upwards due to "rising oil prices"... we forget that our flats are costing a little bit more every year, cos HDB has been corporatized, we forget that GST was inched upwards at a time when many people are already feeling the pinch from rising prices .....
really, it's not about the global economy we're talking about here, but about the way we're being governed ! ...

I do not understand our spoiled worker's attitude, cos I myself works 12 hours a day ....
I don't see Singaporeans being any more lazier than our counterparts in other countries, western or other wise .... I don't think we are that far behind the japanese either ....
but I fail to see why our perceived short-comings should be an excuse for us to swallow more and more bad and unjust policies from the powers-that-be .... I fail to see why we're being told we have no choice but to swallow whatever they throw at us, or else bad things will happen ....

Phew..... been doing my term paper on C-spine injuries caused by G-forces.
Dang.... I can't believe that they did actual human testing on this thingie in the 70s.... lots of volunteers got strapped into impact sleds and were subjected to up to 10Gs of acceleration.
Not surprisingly, quite a few of them came down with whiplash as a result.

got a colleague who wants to go to thailand.
ask his friend to monitor tix. some monitoring indeed.
i bought tix for another colleague for $174.
now this other guy starts checking prices and its sky high.
he even ask the other guy to change tix to fly with him. the new rate for the guy if he changes tix? $276.
i'm happy that i travel alone nowadays.

I feel like waking the people up in LoA. OCEANOS is making use of weak people to make money.
And these people put their beliefs in trinkets thus feeling better. When all they had to do was to believe in themselves.
I feel so sad for these people. And all that positive feedback about feeling better, luckier and shit. Jeez.
