I still remember the sugar price surgetat time when the new contract for NTUC brand sugar came, the price went up almost 100%...
sometimes things going by contract dosen't work

Prices are going up here too. Even eggs which have pretty much stayed on an even keel are now at their highest in 30 years. Cheese has gone up 50%, wheat 80%. The pizza shops are going to absorb as much as they can before they start increasing prices. For us, what's driving the increase is corn which is now used to make gasoline.

And for commodities usually the contract comes with a clause for price reviews

no wonder corn oil prices gone up like siao in tis round of Sime Darby oil price revision.. -

They call it the 'listing' feeAnd than hor they will badger you for promotion fees, and if you want certain shelves you have to rent the space also ok.
The specials they have in the newspaper are all paid for by suppliers
If they just sell stuff they will go bust

I heard Sheng Siong lagi li pu... during their TV show time, all invoice kena 2.5% disc during payment... on top of those newspaper money thingy
