Speaking of which, the winner (definitely a Filipino in Manila Mesa) chooses to remain anonymous, according to today's rag. Check it out.
$31 million lotto winner aims to stay anonymous
The woman who found out Thursday that she had the winning California SuperLotto Plus ticket has claimed the prize. But she told lottery officials she doesn't want her name publicized.
Hers is the fourth-largest single-ticket jackpot awarded in San Diego.
A lottery spokeswoman quoted the winner as saying, in a statement released last night, “I plan to help my family, do home improvements and maybe buy an RV because my husband and I love road trips.”
In case she and her husband are interested, Featherlite Luxury Coaches of Florida touted its $2.5 million RV, with marble steps, original art and SubZero refrigerator, as the world's most expensive in 2006.
The woman bought her ticket, with numbers 5, 17, 23, 42, 43 and Mega number 19, on Monday at Seafood City Supermarket on Mira Mesa Boulevard.
The winning numbers were announced Wednesday night.
“My husband's friend told us to check our tickets because he knew that the winning ticket was sold at the supermarket where we do our shopping,” the winner told lottery spokeswoman Cathy Doyle Johnston.
When her husband arrived home Thursday, they checked the lottery Web site.
“I started jumping and hitting my husband,” the woman said. “He had to get me a glass of water because I was shaking.”
I have bought toto only once in my life ......
someone told me to go up to the counter, say "aunty, quick pick, one dollar".... and that's it .....
I still dunno how the "big" and "small" in 4D works ...

I'm clueless too. I have to share this story with you though. About a year ago, I had this feeling that the four numbers in my head were lucky. I called my Mum to get her to buy them for me but she was unreachable, so I called a good friend. A few hours later, I got a hold of my Mum so I had two bets on the same numbers. Guess what? I won $250 x 2! Imagine that!

ha ha, every punters dream. did you have the beginner luck?
i bought once in my life.. it was a "group effort"
i was told to go up to the lady behind the counter and give her the money and say "quick pick"
i did that and handed over a couple of hundred bucks.. she looked at me suspiciously while the rest of the gang was badgering me.. the machine ran out of paper and while the lady was putting a new roll in, they kept badgering me saying "oi.. aie hiao buey? an chuah an neh ku eh?"
profit of about $150
the other time i just handed over $38.80 to a friend of mine and the profit was about $300 which went into my iMac fund
*yawns*
Dang.... I'm pooped out after studying the same damn thing the whole day.... I have a test on Thursday.
The thing is, my prof is free to meet me only at 5pm for thesis discussion.... else, I'd probably be off now to take a nice little nap at home.....
*zzzzzzzzz..........*

I won $20, much to the disgust of my friend who taught me to say "aunty, quick pick"....
that was in 2003 .... just before I left for Canada, i was hoping to offset the massive amount of money I was about to spend then .....
but I decided not to push my luck further and have never bought anything else since ...

A gem from today's local rag: Read it and go ouch!
The event gets a lot of attention in the skateboarding community, said Branden Bolen, skate buyer for Sun Diego, the company that puts on the event. That's because of the purse size and because San Diego and Southern California are home to many premier skateboarders.
They earned the status in more ways than one. All interviewed said they've suffered one kind of injury or another – mostly broken bones.
Nobody competing wore padding or helmets. “It's raw,” said Mendenhall, who once had to get 28 stitches to heal an injury to his scrotum. He tried to skateboard down a railing, and his legs split. And, well, you get the picture.
